Delta State Head of Service, Reginald Bayoko, mni, has been assigned the official responsibility of the functions of Secretary to Delta State Government, as Functioning SSG.
The formal handover note was presented to Bayoko, at the Conference Room of the SSG by the former occupant of the office, Chiedu Ebie, Esq, on Monday 24th May, 2021.
Ebie was affected by the recent dissolution of the state cabinet, which according to the governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, was done out of the genuine necessity to check foreseeable distractions which may slow down business of government, since some members of Exco declared their interests to contest elective positions in 2023.
The governor described the action as the best alternative under prevailing circumstances in order to sustain the desired concentration for the attainment of the ongoing implementation of the Stronger Delta agenda, while thanking them for their unblemished service to his administration and by extension to the good people of Delta State.
Ebie, a lawyer and iconic technocratic, took over the functions of SSG from his predecessor and former lawmaker, Rt Hon Barr. Festus Ovie Agas, who was also affected by the dissolution exercise as State Chief Strategist. He has since joined the race for the number one plum job of Governor, come 2023.
Agbor born Chiedu Ebie, in Ika Nation, will be remembered for his open door policy, fast tracking of files and swift dispensation of official matters, and for effectively using modern communication technology to speed up business of government and transactions. He was fondly called “Digital SSG.”
HoS Bayoko, will henceforth function in dual capacity as the Head of Service and as the functioning Secretary to Delta State Government, till such a time His Excellency the Platinum Governor of Delta.State, deem it necessary to appoint another substantive SSG for the state.
