Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, JP, has been commended for his visionary leadership, especially for being a team player.
The commendation is contained in a goodwill message by the Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Communications, Chief Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, JP, on the occasion of Mr Speaker’s birthday anniversary celebration.
He noted that there has been a progressive and robust relationship between the Legislature and the other two arm of government since Speaker Oborevwori, took over the mantle of leadership of the vibrant House.
“Within the last two years, nine executive bills were passed and eight signed into Law by the Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, which invariably contributed and will continue to contribute to the socioeconomic advancement of the state and people.
“He is leading a workaholic team of patriotic lawmakers who have deliberately placed service to state and people above self, united in all fronts to consistently deliver on their assigned constitutional functions.
“Mr Speaker’s achievements in the 6th Assembly and in the past two years of the 7th Assembly, clearly confirmed that his style of leadership as the head of the Legislative arm of government, is in tandem with universal tenets of constitutional democracy, as it relates to legislative functions.
“He is a team player, accords Honourable Members the required attention and respond swiftly to their yearnings and legitimate demands in the course of performing legislative functions for the benefit of the people and state.
“I therefore join His Excellency the Governor of Delta State, and Deltans to wish Mr Speaker cum my friend for over thirty years and still counting; many more healthy and prosperous years ahead.
“I pray God to take him to the next level of his career in due season,” Oghenesivbe added.
