The Member Representing Isoko South 2 Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Ferguson Onwo has called for strong synergy between the executive and legislative arms of Isoko South local government council.
Hon Onwo made the call in his office in Asaba when he received in audience the leadership of the Isoko South legislative arm, led by the Leader, Hon Othuke Arovah, who were in the State Assembly to observe the plenary of the House.
The Lawmaker said a sound and cordial relationship between the chairman of the council and the councilors will promote peace and good governance in the local government area.
Hon Onwo who recalled his days as councilor, Leader of the legislative arm and the council chairman in Isoko South, also stressed the need for each arm of the local government to avoid issues and demands that could breed disagreement and distrust in the council.
He reminded them that paucity of funds could be discomforting, but the situation can be better managed when there is understanding among the stakeholders, and urged the officials to at all times be committed to prudent management of the scarce resources.
Hon Onwo who is the Chairman, House Committee on Housing, Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, commended the councilors for their eagerness to learn, saying that their visit to the State Assembly to observe the law making process of the House was a step in right direction.
The Isoko South 2 Constituency Lawmaker promised not to relent in his efforts towards sustained development in Isoko South, even as he charged the councilors to be a part of the struggle by critical stakeholders to the growth of Isoko nation.
The Leader of the Isoko South legislative House, Hon Othuke Arovah in his remarks commended Hon Ferguson Onwo for always being supportive to the progress of the council and appealed that he should not relent in that regards.
Hon Arovah said he had led other Principal Officers to the State Assembly to observe it sitting as part of their learning process, saying that the visit was very impactful and thanked the Speaker, Rt Hon Sherrif Oborevwori for approving the visit and Hon Onwo for facilitating it.
He assured that experience gathered will be put to good use, even as he requested for another opportunity that would involve all the councilors.
Hon Orovah and his team were later led to the Speaker’s Chamber by Hon Ferguoson Onwo on a thank you visit to the Speaker, Rt Hon Sherrif Oborevwori.
The leader was accompanied by the Deputy Leader, Hon Dickson Osifo, Majority Leader, Blessing Emiakumor, Deputy Majority Leader, Erowo Wesley Igbdudu, Chief Whip, Goodluck Abedi and Deputy Chief Whip of the House, Hon Godspower Odhomi.
