Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Communications, Chief Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, JP, has said that his boss, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, in his capacity as the state party leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is not expected to play the second fiddle in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
The Eacgov made the assertion in a radio interview monitored in Asaba, wherein he stated that Okowa being the leader of PDP in Delta State, is saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the entire electioneering strategies, adding that he has the needed experience, wisdom, capacity and political craftsmanship to led the party to victory in 2023.
Responding to a question bordering on loyalty, Oghenesivbe unequivocally affirmed his absolute loyalty to governor Okowa and PDP, saying that it has been a great privilege seating under the political tutelage of a rare gem and grandmaster of “politics without bitterness”, in the person of the Platinum governor.
He said the game of politics is very deep, deeper than the blue sea, and it requires great wisdom and brain storming exercise to decode unspoken political directions of drivers of the process.
Oghenesivbe noted that 2023 governorship election in Delta State, will be hitch free, because the leaders and stakeholders in PDP, are expected to do the needful at the appropriate time to ensure landslide victory, adding that what may not appeal to the people is a situation where undue sentiments and unholy political patronage is considered far and above salient issue of putting a square peg in a square hole.
“His Excellency, the Governor is a well grounded politician and he knows exactly what to do at the right time. There is no doubt in my mind that he will lead the party structures to another gubernatorial election landslide victory, come 2023.
“Yes, political godfatherism may surface in the electioneering process but all I can say for now is that Gov Okowa, is well grounded politically, and he is expected to work with other leaders and party structures to deliver PDP and her candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
“In as much as I deeply appreciate my other benefactors in the political system, the Governor is, no doubt, my greatest benefactor and my absolute loyalty is to him and nobody else.
“I am a one way servant, one master at a time. And as far as 2023 governorship election is concerned, I will support and work for whosoever governor Okowa is supporting. It is automatic and not negotiable,” the Eacgov assured.
