Okowa’s EAC Becomes Patron Of NUJ Truth Chapel …Urges Journalists To Always Crosscheck Facts And News Sources

Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Communications, and Convener of Coalition For Media Politics, CMP, Chief Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, JP, has been appointed Patron of the Truth Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Delta State

Chairman of the Chapel, Comrade Dorathy Mbasen Uba, announced the appointment on Friday July 30, 2021, when executive members of the Truth Chapel, paid him a courtesy visit at the press unit of Government House, Asaba.

She said Oghenedivbe’s appointment was based on his wealth of experience as a renowned communication strategist and media manager, adding that as a patron he is expected to guide exco on issues brought for his consideration.

In his acceptance remarks, Oghenesivbe thanked the Chapel exco for considering him worthy to serve as patron.

He appealed to journalists in the state to always crosscheck their facts, so as to reduce negative propaganda and fake news.

“You are partners in progress with government and the people, which is why you must double check your facts and news sources before filing your reports.

“As a patron of your chapel, I promise to do the needful to ensure that we collectively achieve set out goals, such as the quarterly or annual press week and sensitization programmes of the chapel,” he said.
