Former governor of Delta State and elder statesman, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, has been described as a detribalised political leader who brought relevance to Delta politics.
This was contained in the goodwill message by the Executive Assistant the the Governor of Delta State on Communications, Chief Dr Fred Latimore Oghensivbe, to commemorate the 63rd birthday anniversary celebration of the national leader of Ibori Political Dynasty, IPD.
Oghenedivbe said Chief Ibori, it was, who mobilized the political class; the incumbent governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Chief Ighoyota Amori, Senator James Manager, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, Prof Sam Oyovbaire and others to bring Delta to limelight of national politics.
He recalled the enviable roles played by Ibori, in the national advocacy for resource control by oil producing states, which brought about the 13 per cent derivation, the inauguration of South-South Governors Forum and his political connections across the six geopolitical zones, especially during the brief tenure of late President Musa Yar’Adua.
Okowa’s EAC who is also the convener of Coalition for Media Politics, CMP, asserted that the political temple initiated by Chief Ibori and his associates has grown to an enviable height and had placed Delta among the frontline states in the scheme of things in national politics.
“Chief Ibori is an iconic political leader whose contributions will continue to stand the test of time. It is a thing of joy that this political colossus emerged from Delta State, Urhobo nation and the Niger Delta region.
“He made us proud as a detribalised and kind leader , who during his tenure as governor of Delta State, mentored and empowered thousands of youth and supporters.
“I join my boss the governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Urhobo Nation of Delta Central Senatorial District and and the good people of Delta State, to celebrate our national leader, Chief James Ibori, as he clocks 63 amazing and impressive years on planet earth.
“I wish him good health, longevity and many more prosperous years ahead,” Oghenesivbe prayed.
