IGP Inaugurates Sapele Area Command Headquarters

Could this be the end of crime in Sapele as the faces of residents in Sapele beam with joy over the commissioning of the Nigeria Police Area Command Headquarters, Sapele, Delta State

The officially Commissioning Ceremony was done on Thursday August 26th 2021 by the Inspector General Of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman who was ably represented by the Commissioner Of Police Delta State, CP Ari Muhammed Ali

The commissioning is coming several months after the area command complex has been completed and ready for use

CP Ari Muhammed Ali who was speaking during the opening ceremony said that the Area Command Headquarters will be put to judicious use to curb criminal activities and other social vices that are inimical to the growth and development of the town.

He reiterated that security and securing of lives and property was a collective business that could only be achieve through collective efforts as security is paramount in our lives

Speaking further, he thanked the Okpe/Sapele Community for their effort to build and present to the Delta State Police Command the Nigeria Police Area Command Headquarters which will provide police high visibility in Sapele, Orerokpe, Koko, Abraka, Oghara, Jesse, Mosogar and environs. Adding that the building of the Nigeria Police Area Command Headquarters by the Okpe/Sapele Community shows that security takes precedence in their scale of preference

Dr Patrick Akamovba Chairman Of the Sapele Okpe Community in his speech said that the station was built to enhance security of lives and property in Sapele and it’s environs, noting that security is important for all.

He thanked His Royal Majesty Major General Felix Mujakperuo Rtd CFR, Mni, Orhue 1, Chief Ede Dafinone and other Okpe leaders for their immense contributions to the project, expressing determination and commitment towards transforming the area through projects that have a direct impact on their lives.

The Orodje of Okpe His Royal Majesty Major General Felix Mujakperuo (Rtd), CFR, Mni, Orhue 1 who spoke in the same vein said that there was need to establish another police station in the locality to curb crime, noting that the only police station in the town was built before Independence, hence the need for a new one.

Chief Eugene Inoaghan Chairman Sapele local government area who spoke during the commissioning ceremony said that the Area Command Headquarters was built to serve Sapele, Oghara, Jesse, Mosogar, Koko, Orerokpe and environs. He thanked the IGP for giving approval to build the Area Command Headquarters in Sapele, while stating that security was paramount for every local government area. He further reiterated that the local government will work in synergy with the police and other security agency to help curb crime in the community.

Chief Felix Anirah Member Representing Sapele Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly who was also on ground to witness the ceremony commended the community Chairman Dr Patrick Akamovba for the project saying that he has done well. He called on others to contribute their quota towards making Sapele safe.

Others are MD Seplat West Limited Mr Foloruso Afolabi, Okabie Emmanuel (NPDC) Nigeria Petroleum Development Company, Hon Richard Ogirisen, Hon Peter Eferurie Adjemiyotan, Hon Jimmy Eta, Hon Nasiru Ado, Hon Churchill Ayomanor and a host of other dignatries.
