A Member of the Delta State House of Assembly representing Ika South Constituency, Hon Festus Okoh, has presented a cash donation of eight hundred thousand naira to the winners of the Children’s Talent Show competition organized in Asaba, by the state government.
Hon Okoh at the ceremony which was part of activities to mark the 30th year anniversary of the creation of Delta State, said he was moved by the brilliant performances of the students.
The breakdown of the surprised donated amount include, five hundred thousand naira to the student that took first position, two hundred thousand naira for the one that came second, while the student that came third got one hundred thousand naira.
The announcement was greeted with loud ovation from the organizers, participants and guests at the ceremony which took place at the Unity Hall, Government House Asaba, and attended by the wife of the state governor, Dame Edith Okowa amongst other dignitaries and government functionaries.
Hon Okoh said the eight hundred thousand naira was to motivate the young stars to always strive for the best in future competitions.
The Lawmaker who is the Chairman, House Committee on Transport and Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, commended the organizers of the children talent show for the initiative.
While wishing all Deltans happy 30th anniversary celebrations, the Lawmaker assured of his continued support for activities that promote excellence in the society.
The organizers of the talent show said the event was aimed at producing confident, expressive, and intelligent Delta State children.
Participants were drawn from various Secondary Schools across the State.
