Renowned Communication Executive and Justice of the Peace in Delta State, Chief Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has appealed to the waring youth in Orhoakpor community in Ethiope East Local Government Area, to eschew violence and embrace ongoing peace moves by the local council authority and community leaders.
Oghenesivbe’s appeal is contained in a statement on Saturday 25th September, and made available to newsmen in Asaba, wherein he urged His Royal Majesty, the Ovie of Agbon Kingdom, Ogunrimerime, Ukori 1, to set up a high power facts finding and reconciliation committee to resolve the leadership crisis in Orhoakpor Community, and restore peace in the area.
He urged the youth to love one another, and never again allow community leadership tussle to neither divide them nor result to lost of lives and property, going forward.
He mourned those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident, and prayed that such horrible experience should never again be allowed to rear its ugly head in Urhoakpor community.
Oghenesivbe said security and peace building has been and will continue to be one of the focal points of Okowa administration, adding that youth by virtue of their sensitive position as leaders of tomorrow; remained the major focus of governance.
He further asserted that the state government and the governor, have been partnering with youth in all communities across the three senatorial districts, a synergy that had produced tremendous results in sustaining peaceful coexistence in the state, and still counting.
“I wish to appeal to our youth in Orhoakpor to embrace peace and to commence total reconciliation of grey areas, while collaborating with the local council, community leaders and other stakeholders.
“Our amiable governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, is an Ambassador of peace, and has demonstrated inestimable love for youth through the creation of the State Bureau for Job and Wealth Creation
“Deltans, including our youth in Orhoakpor community, have individual roles to play in ensuring that good governance is sustained through peace building efforts, and by grabbing all socioeconomic transformation opportunities available under the YAGEP, STEP, GEST-P, RYSA, as well as other human capacity development programmes of this administration.
“Orhoakpor is a progressive community and the youth are very industrious, well focused and with great vision. One wonders why this unfortunate incident occurred; which is why, leaders and stakeholders must find ways and means of restoring peace in the boiling community through credible channels within the shortest possible time.
“I commend the efforts of the law enforcement agents on ground in Orhoakpor community, for their patriotism, selfless service and dedication to duty at this time.
“I commend the Chairman of EELG Council, Hon Victor Ofobrukueta Victor, and other stakeholders for the proactive steps taken in managing the crisis,” Oghenesivbe said.
