Executive Assistant to Delta State Governor on Communications, Chief Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq, has appealed to corporate organisations, wealthy individuals, federal and state governments to give financial assistance to Rize FM Warri and Premium Times Abuja, to enable the two top brand media organisations recover from the huge losses suffered as a result of fire which razed office buildings and valuable operational equipments.
Okowa’s EAC in a statement on Friday 15th October, in Asaba, said Rize FM and Premium Times lost over N500 million in operational equipments to the unfortunate infernos which gutted the broadcast station and online newspaper buildings on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th October 2021, respectively.
He asserted that the Press is an integral part of nation building as watchdog of society, which is why Rize FM and Premium Times cannot be left alone to grapple with the huge costs of procuring new operational equipment, reconstruction and/or rehabilitation of office buildings.
He urged security operatives to painstakingly investigate the fire incidents; apprehend and prosecute those found culpable, adding that thorough investigations may unravel the immediate and remote causes of the infernos.
“I am pained that Rize FM and Premium Times lost millions of Naira in property to the infernos, especially office buildings and operational equipments.
“The two media brands deserve financial support from all and sundry, to facilitate rehabilitation and reconstruction of office buildings, purchase of operational and office equipments, so as to resume full scale operations with minimum delay.
“The office of the Eacgovdelta appeals to corporate organisations, wealthy individuals, state and federal governments to come to the aid of Rize FM Warri and Premium Times Abuja, to enable them bounce back within a reasonable time, considering their constitutional roles as members of the fourth estate of the realm,” Oghenesivbe said.
