His Imperial Majesty, King Michael Omeru, Ukori the First, Ovie of the ancient Agbon Kingdom in South-South Nigeria, has commended the enviable track records of the Mayor of Longford in Ireland, Princess Uruemu Omeru-Adejinmi, describing her as a rare gem and great daughter of Urhobo nation.

King Omeru made the commendation on Friday 22nd October 2021, when he paid a scheduled visit to the mayor of Longford, in her office.

He said Delta State, Nigeria and indeed Africa, are proud of her enviable status as the first black African woman to be elected a mayor in the Republic of Ireland, adding that he was particularly very happy to be the biological father of the famous political Amazon and great African woman, Mayor Uruemu Omeru-Adejimi.

“You have raised the stake for other African women in Ireland and around the world to rise up, to serve humanity and society wherever they found themselves.

“It is always a noble course to serve the people, because nations and kingdoms are focused on the welfare, prosperity and security of the people.

“Your passion and zeal to serve humanity got you deeply involved in community service in Ireland, which to a large extent gave you the platform, the impetus and the voice to further connect with the people.

“And through dint of hard work and God’s special grace, you have been able to occupy the position of Mayor of Longford. I am convinced beyond reasonable doubt that you will serve the good people of Ireland in higher capacity in the years ahead.

“I encourage you never to relent in your good efforts, remain focused on goals attainments and serve with high integrity. The people of Longford look up to you, and you must work very hard to consistently justify the trust and confidence repose in you.

“I am particularly happy that my own daughter is the incumbent Major of Longford, and I give God Almighty the glory. You made me even more proud as a father and a king.

“My joy knows no bounds, which was why I decided to take time off my vacation in London to visit you, to rejoice with you and with Africa, for this great fit, powered by God.

“I must not fail to remind you that the position you occupy for the people of Longford, is by extension for Africa, Nigeria, Delta State, your home birthplace of Kokori-Agbon Kingdom and Urhobo nation.

“Let honesty, accountability and transparency be the hallmarks of your tenure and service to the people of Longford and Ireland.

“You have done well but your best is yet to come. We are with you in prayers,” King Omeru said.

Earlier, Princess of Agbon Kingdom and Mayor of Longford County, Mrs Adejinmi said the solid foundation of good morals, positive family values and leadership standards laid by her father, King Omeru, as well as the huge support from her husband and children made it possible for her to accomplish set out goals.

“I owe these achievements to God Almighty for His special grace upon my life, and to my King and super Daddy, His Imperial Majesty, King Omeru, Ukori the First of Agbon Kingdom. My Daddy is the best in the entire world and I am very grateful to God.

“And in addition, I was able to attain this status because of the huge support from my lovely husband and wonderful children. I am indeed very grateful to God, and to all of you.

“I love Ireland, I love Longford and I will give them my very best at all times. Back home in Nigeria, Delta and Agbon Kingdom, I need your prayers always. Keep praying for me and our great Kingdom,” she added.

The high point of King Omeru’s visit was a tour of the county’s Secretariat and a dinner with his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.
