The Member Representing the Udu State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon (Chief) Peter Uviejitubor says he shares a strong bond with his people which can not be destroyed by mere blackmail.
Reacting to a recently sponsored media report against him, Hon Uviejitobor stated that his achievements in the last six years as a Member of the State Legislature will continue to speak and open more doors for him, saying that the force that unite him and the people of Udu is divine.
“The primary objective of any legislature is lawmaking. In this regards, I have co-sponsored several bills in the House, including Administration of Criminal Justice Bill, 2016; Delta State Internal Revenue Consolidation Law, 2009 (Amendment) Bill, 2016; Delta State Consumer Rights Protection Agency Bill, 2016; Delta State Cancer Control Agency Bill, 2016; and Bill for a Law to Establish a Building and Civil Engineering (Construction) Materials Quality Control Laboratory Bill, 2016”.
Uviejitobor disclosed that a motion he solely sponsored under Matters of Urgent Public Importance on the rainstorm disaster that affected Ogbe-Udu Community in Udu and the resolutions adopted after rigorous debates on its merits, led to government’s immediate intervention on the matter.
On Constituency Projects, he said “it will interest you to know that I have duly completed my 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 constituency projects. The projects are well spread across communities in Udu. They include, Construction of a Block of Six Classrooms at Aladja Grammar School Aladja, (Completed); Construction of a Block of Six Classrooms at Orhuwhorun High School, Orhuwhorun (Completed); Construction of a Block of Six Classrooms at Adadja Secondary School, Emadadja (completed); Renovation of a Block of Six Classrooms at Ovwian Secondary School, Ovwian (Completed); Renovation of a Block of Six Classrooms with water facilities at Owhrode Secondary School, Owhrode, (Completed); Construction of a Block of Six Classrooms with Water tank at Oghior Secondary School, Oghior (Completed); and Renovation of Examination Hall at Ovwian Secondary School, Ovwian (Completed)
Others include, Construction of a Block of Six Classrooms at Ujevwu Grammar School, Ujevwu (Completed); Construction of a Block of Six Classrooms at Ubogo Secondary School, Ubogo (Completed); Construction of a Block of Six Classrooms at Palama Primary School, Orhuwhorun (Completed); Construction of a Block of Six Classrooms at Okpaka Secondary School, Okpaka (Completed) and distribution of School Furniture to various Schools in Udu.
Uviejitubor stated that in addition to the Constituency projects, he also influenced budgetary allocations for some landmark projects across four schools in Udu.
The Lawmaker identified them to include full Renovation of Ovwian Secondary School, Egini Grammar School, Aladja Grammar school, and Construction of Science and Laboratory Hall at Ogbe-Udu Secondary School, Ogbe-Udu.
“From the first day I was sworn-in as a Lawmaker, I began to impact on the lives of my constituents in different categories which include; cash empowerment of a minimum amount of two million naira every month till date; training of over 100 Udu Youths in Computer Programme through the ‘Team Uviejitobor for Okowa Skill Acquisition Scheme”; additional empowerment of over 80 Udu constituents enlisted into YAGEP and STEP programmes, and many other material empowerment as well as appointments of Udu sons and daughters into different Boards and Parastatals ”. Uviejitobor stated.
He said the dilapidated state of roads in Udu communities, caught his attention immediately he was sworn in, and led to his issuance of several letters to the Direct Labour Agency (DLA) to draw the agency’s attention to the problem, saying, “With the speedy approval by Governor Okowa-led administration, DLA heeded to the clarion call, culminating in the maintenance of New York, Ovwian and Orhuwhorun roads”.
“Following appropriation from the House of Assembly and the approval by the State government, Governor Okowa carried out the construction and rehabilitation of the following Roads in Udu – Ovwian Main Road to DSC Expressway with Drainage; Ekete-Inland Road; Orhuworhun/Usiefrun/Ekrokpe Road; Aladja from the Keep-Right Roundabout to Aladja Waterside; Express Junction; are Orhuwhorun Road Ovwian; Orhuwhorun Main Town Network of Roads; Ogodogu Road Ovwian; and the ongoing Construction of a six classroom block at Oleri Secondary school Oleri and the Construction of a Six Classrooms Block at Otor-Udu Secondary School, Otor-Udu.
The Lawmaker disclosed that there are other projects executed in Udu Constituency by the State Government and State Universal Basic Education Board with the approval of the Governor.
Uviejitobor listed the Renovation of Block of Six Classrooms at Egini Primary School; Renovation of Block of Six Classrooms at Otor-Udu Primary School; Renovation of Block of Six Classrooms at Orhuwhorun Primary School; Construction of Ugbisi Primary School, Ugbisi; Construction of Block of Three Classrooms at Ujevwu Primary School; Renovation of Block of Six Toilets at Orhuwhorun Primary School; Renovation of Block of Four Classrooms at Ukperhenren Primary School; Renovation of Block of Three Classrooms at Ekrota Primary School; Construction of Block of Three Classrooms at Ekete Waterside Primary School; Construction of Solar Powered Water Project at Orhuwhorun Primary School and Renovation of Aladja Primary School with provision of Solar Water Scheme at Aladja, among those landmarks projects.
The Legislator who is presently the Chairman, House Committee on Water Resources, after previously heading the Committee on Art, Culture and Tourism and Lands, Survey and Urban Development, explained that recently, he presented Sienna Utility Vehicles to two PDP leaders in the constituency for their diligence and hard work.
“I have made several recommendations where Udu sons and daughters were admitted into various higher institutions across the country.
As the representative of my people, I will always make myself available for their yearning and aspiration, and would continue to provide them quality representation as promised during my electioneering campaigns”.
