Delta 2022 Budget Defense: N6 Billion  Insufficient For Technical Edu. Says Commissioner………… As Ighrakpata Pledges More Supports To MDAs Under Special Duties

The sum of six billion naira has been assigned for the Ministry of Technical Education in the 2022 budget proposal of the Delta State Government.

The Commissioner in charge of the ministry, Princess Shola Daibo disclosed this when she led officials of the ministry to appear before the Hon Charles Emetulu led House Committee on Education to defend the proposed budget estimates before the committee.

The Technical Education Commissioner, Princess Shola Daibo, said the state government had approved the establishment of 19 new model Technical Colleges in the state and the first phase of the project which is made up of nine is ongoing.

Princes Daibo said although the six billion naira proposed amount was insufficient but there could be more money for the ministry when the finances of the state government improves.

She disclosed that nine point two billion naira was allocated to the ministry in the outgoing financial year and that the ministry awarded projects amounting to twenty three point three billion naira.

The Commissioner explained that completion of the ongoing projects would be of top priority in the ministry in 2022 fiscal year.

Princess Daibo disclosed that the sum of one hundred and sixty five million naira is to be expended to cater for salaries in the ongoing recruitment exercise into the model technical colleges as well as to fill the vacancies in the existing ones.

The Chairman of the Committee, Charles Emetulu restated the commitment of the Committee to achieving the laudable dreams of the Okowa’s administration in technical education development in the state.

Meanwhile, the Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Special Duties and Deputy Chief Whip of the House, Hon Solomon Ighrakpata has urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs of government under the oversight of the committee to enhance their performance in the 2022 fiscal year.

Hon Ighrakpata who stated this during the budget defense of the Job and Wealth Creation Bureau of the state government, commended the various programs of the Okowa’s administration towards meaningful engagement of youths in the state.

The Lawmaker who is the Deputy Child Whip of the House urged officials of the Ministry, Bureau for Special Duties led by its Commissioner, Mr Johnbull Edema to work out modalities for improve budget performance of the ministry in the 2022 fiscal year.

Addressing officials of the Directorate of Project Monitoring also led by the Commissioner, Hon Ighrakpata stressed the need for projects awarded by the state government to be executed to standards.

The Lawmaker and other members of the Committee also played host to the Delta State Emergency Management Agency, and the Directorate of Sustainable Development Goal, SDG, for the 2022 budget defense session.

Hon Ighrakpata assured them of the support of the committee towards adequate budgetary provisions and effective oversight.
