The State Government says it is adopting a wholistic approach at ensuring development in oil producing communities in the state.

The Commissioner, Ministry of Oil and Gas, Prince Emmanuel Amgbadugba disclosed this when he led the Permanent Secretary and top officials of the ministry to the State House of Assembly to defend the 2020 budget proposals of the ministry.

The Commissioner, Prince Emmanuel Amgbadugba told the Hon Ekpotuareyin Pullah led House Committee on Environment, Oil and Gas that much efforts were being made by the state government to ensuring harmony in oil bearing communities in the state.

He said the ministry is committed to effective monitoring of operations in the oil and gas sector, stressing that proper thing must be done at all times to secure peaceful coexistence between oil companies in Delta State and their host communities.

Prince Amgbadugba disclosed provision in the 2022 budget for training of young indigenes in oil producing communities to qualify them into grabbing opportunities in the Oil industry and other related activities.

Stating that the Okowa’s administration is not relenting to introducing new approach towards development of oil producing communities, the Commissioner solicited the cooperation of stakeholders, especially the Delta State House of Assembly.

He said good budgetary provision for the ministry was required to achieve the lofty ideas of the state government in the Oil and Gas sector.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon Ekpotuareyin Pullah assured the Commissioner and the management team of support.

The Assembly Committee on Environment, Oil and Gas also played host to officials of the Delta State Waste Management Board.
