General Manager of Delta Broadcasting Service, Asaba Station, Mr Osabohien Frank Whyte has said that one of his major goals is to completely rehabilitate, upgrade and rebrand DBS Asaba and have it hooked up to national network.
He made the disclosure on Monday 22nd November, in Asaba, when he paid a scheduled visit on the Executive Assistant to Delta State Governor on Communications, Chief Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, JP, at Government House, Asaba.
Mr. Osabohien said his visit was to further strengthen the cordial working relationship between DBS Asaba and the office of the Eacgov, and to also appeal to Oghenesivbe to host “The Meeting Point,” a new political talkshow expected to hit the airwaves of the station anytime soon.
He said “The Meeting Point” shall be a live broadcast from Monday to Friday, one hour per episode with commercial breaks, adding that one of his goals as GM, is to rebrand, upgrade and have DBS hooked up to Dstv national network.
Osabohien also congratulated Oghenesivbe over the recent Award of Excellence in Communication and Media Strategy bestowed on him by the Editorial Board of Africa Media Journal Concept, AMJC, saying that since assumption of office in April 2017, he has consistently and doggedly engaged detractors of His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa and his administration.
“We at DBS Asaba deeply appreciate our robust working relationship with you. I am here to congratulate you for the Award of Excellence in Communication and Media Strategy, bestowed on you by the editorial board of Africa Media Journal Concept, AMJC, regional office, Nigeria.
“The Award is well deserved and I was very happy to read on social media platforms the stream of congratulatory messages, an indication that you truly deserved the Award, the same way we celebrated your recognition by AMJC.
“We are working on a political talkshow on DBS christened – The Meeting Point, and management decided to partner with you to anchor the talkshow, because of your solid background and wealth of experience in party politics and political matters generally. It is expected to be a live broadcast, 7-8pm daily, Monday to Friday,” Osabohien said.
Responding, Oghenesivbe thanked DBS Asaba GM Osabohien, for his kind words. He commended his managerial skills and the ongoing rebranding of the station, saying that since becoming General Manager, Asaba station wore a new look that truly befits a state broadcasting outfit.
“You are already transforming DBS Asaba, and I am completely overwhelmed by the uncommon rehabilitation and rebranding that is currently going on there.
“Don’t relent in your efforts because you have proven to be a visionary administrator and a thorough breed professional journalist. Keep the flag of DBS flying.
“I accept to be the host of ‘The Meeting Point’ and I shall do everything and anything to deal with issues like the defunct Larry King Live on Cable News Network, CNN.
“As for my job, I will neither eat nor drink with the governor’s detractors and haters like some people do. It is unethical and morally wrong to do so when you are saddled with crucial responsibilities such as mine.
“This administration is known for people oriented projects, programmes and policies. Nobody, no matter highly placed, will not be allowed to deploy media propaganda and character assassination strategies to undermine the enviable achievements of Okowa administration.
“I shall remain focused, proactive and swift in crafting materials that would consistently checkmate mischievous media onslaught on the governor and his remarkable achievements,” Oghenesivbe assured.
