Project Chairman of the Okpe Girl Child Education Initiative, a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) Dr. Beauty Oborogharen Biokoro has bagged the United Nations Peace Ambassador Appointment due her humanitarian services to nation building.
The honour which was bestowed on her at the year 2021 investiture ceremony of the International Peace Advocates held at Orchid hotel Asaba on Saturday 4th December, 2021with the theme: Promoting Unity, Peace and Security, the role of international peace advocate was witnessed by foriegn observers, family members, friends and well wishers.
Dr. Biokoro who is a renowned educationist, evangelist, community leader, philanthropist among others hailed from the Orhue ruling family, Okpe Kingdom, Okpe Local government area of Delta State.
Biokoro, lecturer at the Delta State University, Abraka whose citation by the master of ceremony elucidated her various humanitarian works including her pet project, gave her an ovation and admiration by all before she was invested and presented an appointment with “Eminent Peace Ambassador of the United Nations”
The appointment read thus, “International Association of World Peace Advocates
United Nations Peace Volunteers, Chartered Fellowship Award, Presented to
Dr. Beauty Oborogharen Biokoro JP PHF FIPMD, who is hereby appointed as an
Eminent Peace Ambassador”
Speaking to Journalists, Dr. Beauty Oborogharen Biokoro expressed her indept gratitude to God Almighty and United Nations for the appointment given.
She explained how she was nominated for the appointment but never knew other people picked interest in her humanitarian services to society.
According to her, “this recognization was given to me because of my activities to peace building in the society. As a philanthropist, my little assistance to the vulnerable and indigent people cut across board, either at the university community, family members, colleagues, church among others.
My nomination came really as a surprise to me because I don’t know that my philanthropist works are being monitored. I often assist widows, vulnerable in the society. I have care for the orphans in the society. I have assisted many people to set up their dream businesses. I have also helped in the missionary work. I derived joy helping others. I have assisted students. Little did I know that all these would fetch me this appointment. All these culminated into the investiture.
As eminent peace ambassador, I see this as a challenge, to build a peace loving environment wherever I find myself. It’s expensive to do that but with the grace of God, l will achieve all”
She stated that this would further prompt her in reaching out to more indigent people through her pet project.
Chairman’s opening remarks, His Excellency, Amb. DCN. Chris Iyovwaye (Ambp) UN Chartered Peace Advocate & M.D/CEO Wellman Group Chairman represented by His Excellency AMB. Dr. Emmanuel Nweke (Ambp) IAWPA international spokesperson charged the newly inductees to work in the tenants of the association
International Director, IAWPA, Amb. Professor Chidi Ehiriodo, urged the newly appointees to be good ambassadors of the association that anyone found culpable, the honours bestowed on them would be retrieved.
Also speaking, Ambassador Sam Obi in a refresher lecture delivered, urged the inductees to promote peace and unity within their immediate family and society.
