Teachers in public secondary schools in Delta State have been advised to show more commitments to their duties so as to impact more positively on the academic performances of students.
The Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu gave the advice in Asaba shortly after monitoring visits to some schools in Oshimili South Local Government Area of the state.
Ezewu, who expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance of students and teachers since Schools resumed for the second term academic session , said that teachers should strive to put the interest of the children first .
While admonishing students to inculcate reading culture at all times and shun acts capable of jeopardising their future, Ezewu reminded them that Okowa administration had transformed the education sector to the benefits of teachers and students.
The Education commissioner, however, warned principals and teachers to always abstain from things that could paint the sector in negative light even as she urged them to adhere strictly to the tenets of the profession.
Schools visited by the commissioner and her team included Afadia College, Asaba, Oduke Mixed Secondary School, Okwe and Okwe Secondary School, Okwe in Oshimili South Local Government Area.
