Building Collapse: Delta NSCDC Commandant Akinsanya Reads Riot Act To Quack Engineers, Govt. Officials Compromising Standards. Warns Of Dire Consequences

The Delta State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Iskilu Akinsanya has expressed concern over the activities of some government officials accused of sabotaging efforts at regulating the real estate sector in the state, vowing to bring errant officers to justice according to extant laws.

The Commandant, who gave the warning on Friday at the Federal Medical Center, Asaba while commiserating with survivors of the Salvation Ministry building collapse Okpanam road, Oshimili North local government area on Tuesday 11th, affirmed that some government officials and developers had cultivated the habit of cutting corners.

The Commandant while expressing disappointment over the incident noting the Delta State Command of the NSCDC would be ruthless with defaulters, promising they would be arrested and prosecuted.

Commandant Akinsanya stated the Corps must work for everyone to protect life and property which is the core mandate.

He said real estate remains a very strong and powerful investment all over the world, adding that apart from the role it plays in employment generation and creation of sustainable jobs, it has the highest potential of growing the economy of any state and nation.

He prayed for those who lost their lives and for the speedy recovery of those injured. The Commandant also sympathize with the Salvation Ministry over the havock.
