The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Delta State chapter, has re-elected Comrade Emeka Bidokwu of the Action Alliance (AA) as chairman of the body, to oversee the association activities for the next two years in the state.
Bidokwu re-election which was held at INEC office, Asaba as unopposed was conducted by IPAC national body, monitored by INEC and witnessed by some security agencies on Friday 14th January, 2022 just as eight others were elected unopposed by 17 out of the 18 political party members of IPAC in the state.
Earlier, the National IPAC Chairman ,Engr. Yabagi Yusuf Sani of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) expressed IPAC readiness to forge ahead as one indivisible body.
Represented by the national IPAC secretary Alhaji Yusuf Dantali noted that “by the law guiding the conduct of the election, only contestants that are card-carrying members of political parties and are duly registered and recognized by the INEC are allowed to participate in the election.
Yabagi disclosed that the contestants were drawn from among the state party chairmen as indicated in the IPAC state polls guidelines.
Also, the state resident electoral Commissioner, Rev. Monday Udoh Tom who commended IPAC in the state in the past general elections, promised to work with them towards achieving successful general elections next year.
The newly elected Delta State IPAC executives are Comrade Emeka Bidokwu of the Action Alliance (AA) elected Chairman, Oghenejabor Onome of the (AAC) elected Deputy Chairman, while Annabel Cosmos of the APP emerged Secretary.
Henry Eze of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) was elected Deputy Secretary, Emmanuel America (NRM) elected Organizing Secretary, Comr. Emmanuel Nkuala (JP) (ZLP) financial secretary.
Others include, Dr. Michael Egboh of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) elected Treasurer, Ebewore Simeon (Accord Party) Publicity Secretary and Okolo Hessweton Eqs of the People’s Democratic Party as its Legal Adviser.
Speaking to Journalists after the election, the returned IPAC Chairman in the state, Comrade Emeka Bidokwu thanked its members for the confidence reposed in him, promising not to disappoint them.
He appealed to members to join hands with him to bring positive change to the state political system through their constructive engagements with the state government.
Bidokwu who reiterated a new dawn in the state said they plan to perform and replicate same inauguration of IPAC executives across the 25 local government areas of the state.
He urged all political parties to work hard and win at least political seat in the forth coming 2023 general elections so that they wouldn’t be deregister by INEC just as he urged all Political parties to have their state secretariat in the state capital to meet some of the requirements by INEC enable them to be viable for the elections.
Comrade Emeka Bidokwu further explained that he would partner with various parties that made up the association in the state to inundate people in the state on the need to elect credible leaders above parochial interest.
Some members of the association who spoke include Chairman, Accord Party, Hon. Fred Obi, Chairman, labour party, Chief Anthony Eziagu and others charged the newly elected executives to unit the association and inject innovations that will take the association to the next stage.
