The Permanent Secretary, Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro has advised secondary school students in the state to always develop positive attitude towards learning in order to effectively equipped to succeed and attain greatness in life .
Oghoro gave the advice at the Government Model Secondary School, GRA Asaba while declaring open the 2022 mentorship programme organised for the students across the state.
The Permanent Secretary who said that the advocacy programme was conducted simultaneously in the state, reminded the students that they had more opportunities within their disposal to be greater in life as a result of modernisation.
He said that peer pressure could bring positive impact on the children , adding that loss of confidence was one of the negative effects of peer group influence.
While urging them to inculcate the spirit of commitments and hardwork , Mr. Oghoro noted that peer group influence could impact negatively on their lives in one way or the other even as he stated that children of the same age would share similar characteristics.
Oghoro stressed the need for children to abstain from social vices and listen to their parents and teachers at all times, adding that they should shun late coming to school.
