The Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU) youth wing has officially inaugurated the region Security Network known as Urhobo United Vigilante Group.
Inaugurating the security Outfit at a colourful ceremony which held at Ewu-Urhobo, Ewu kingdom, in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State, General Secretary of the union Comrade Joseph Adjari who represented the youth president Comrade Ovie Ebierhi explained that the security outfit was formed following a call by people of the region for a security outfit that will assist the police and other security agencies in fighting crimes and criminalities to zero level across the region.
The President observed that though the outfit has been structured under the chief security officer of the Urhobo Youth wing commander, but remain under the supervision and control of the Delta State Police Command.
He warned members of the outfit against engaging cultism, kidnapping, stealing among other crimes in the region stressing that anyone found culpable will be sacked.
The number one youth in Urhobo land maintained that the outfit, in line with the law that established it, the security outfit will work in synergy with the police and other security agencies in the state to fight crimes in the twenty four kingdoms that made up the Urhobo nation in Delta State.
While commending members of the Urhobo United Vigilante Group for volunteering themselves to support the development of the region, the youth president assured them that the state government under Doctor Ifeanyi Okowa will support them to achieve the set objectives.
‘Let let me remind everyone here present today that what we are doing today is very lawful and it will help our local people to go to their farms, access their crops and as well make living more comfortable for them. This is very necessary at this time so that our people can sleep with their both eyes closed and the issue of incessant clashes between farmers and herders clashes in the region. And this security outfit will help to address it to the barest minimum. And I want to commend all our brothers and sisters who volunteer themselves for this exercise. We pray God to strengthen them and encourage them to do what is necessary to safeguard our territories away from invaders.
The national Chief Security Officer of the newly inaugurated Urhobo United Vigilante Group Comrade Omokrah Oghenero Awani said the Urhobo United Vigilante group UPU youth wing is a security outfit working in all the 24 kingdoms under the supervision of the CSO in each Kingdom.
He explained that Urhobo United Vigilante group youth wing is saddled with the responsibility of securing lives and properties of the Urhobo nation.
According to him, the security outfit has the following as the rules and regulations guiding its operations such as, member of the Vigilante group are not permitted to commit any crime or any form of criminal activities just as it’s Logo says say no to crime. No member of the Urhobo United Vigilante group UPU youth wing is permited to be a member of any secret society or Court. Any one found guilty of these will face the full wrath of the law. Just as the group is poised to work hand-in-hand with the Nigeria police force in various communities just as our motto says unity is strength.
The State Intelligence bureau, Supol Guwo
Chris tasked the Vigilante group to work with the Nigeria place to ensure that they reduce crime and criminality to the lowest level in the area.
“I’m very impressed that this inauguration is happening in my time as Supol in the area, nevertheless the police and other security agencies in the area cannot do this alone hence much lies in the hands of these volunteers to bring out the best in them and help the police, navy, army, the civil defence including other sister security agencies to combat crime and reduce it to zero level in the region. Be rest assured that the Nigeria police force will give it’s upmost best to assist you in whatever form to ensure that you are able to carry out your duties effectively.”
Also speaking, the Senior Special Adviser to the Deputy Senate President, National President Urhobo Peculiar Advocates and UPU Youthwing Senior Special Adviser Hon. Ochuko Okagbare admonished the youth and the volunteers to bring in their best in protecting the region against intruders.
Nevertheless, the ceremony attracted well-meaning sons and daughters of Urhobo nation across the region.
The CSO is now duty bound to inaugurate executives and members of the Vigilante group in each of the 24 various kingdoms in Urhobo land
