The Majority Leader and Member Representing Isoko South 2 in the Delta State House Assembly, Hon Ferguson Onwo has said that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is desirous to commissioning the Inyanga Market Oleh-Irri-Aviara road.
Speaking when he played host to two separate delegations from Isoko nation who paid him solidarity visits, Hon Onwo stated that the road project should have since been executed but for paucity of funds.
The two groups that visited the Majority Leader in his office at the State Assembly Complex in Asaba, include Aviara Grassroot Political Leaders Forum and Forum of PDP Ward Secretaries in Isoko South local government area.
The Lawmaker who is the Chairman, House Committee on Information, however assured that going by recent discussions, a state government contractor would soon mobilize to the site.
According to him, the said Iyang Market Oleh-Irri-Aviara road connects communities in both Isoko North and South local government areas, saying that the importance of that road to socio-economic development in the localities can not be overemphasized.
Hon Onwo commended the Aviara Grassroot Political Forum and the entire Aviara community for the steadfastness in their support for the PDP and urged them to continue to speak in one voice.
The Majority Leader told the people that more dividends of democracy would be attracted to the area by the Okowa’s led state government, including renovation of schools and distribution of school furnitures.
He urged the party leaders to compile and send to him list of schools in the locality that need benches, even as he reminded the people on the need to seek direction in the build up of politics of 2023.
Chief Oghale Ofuemu who spoke on behalf of the Aviara Grassroot Political Forum said the solidarity visit was to congratulate the Lawmaker for his emergence as the Majority Leader of the House and to reaffirm their support for him to succeed.
Chief Ofuemu drew the attention to the bad state of the Iyang Market Oleh-Irri-Aviara road, as well as other areas of need in the community and appeal for government intervention.
He pledged the total loyalty of the group to the state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and the Majority Leader, Ferguson Onwo, even as he assured that the people can never be distracted in their support and commitment for peace and good governance of the state.
Addressing the Forum of PDP Wards Secretaries in Isoko South local government area, the Majority Leader commended them for coming together as a group to champion a common course.
Hon Onwo reminded the grassroot party leaders of the increased political activities in the country as a result of build up to 2023 general elections and advised them not to be in a hurry in pitching tent with a particular leader.
The Majority Leader charged the party secretaries to watch the body language of the Governor who is the leader of the party in the state, even as he commended them for the vote of confidence passed on him.
The Chairman of the Forum of PDP Ward Secretaries in Isoko South, Hon Jaho Odizda, had earlier commended the sterling qualities of Hon Onwo and declared the total support of the group to his leadership and future aspirations.
Hon Odizda also on behalf of the party officials congratulated the Lawmaker for his emergence as the Majority Leader and charged him to remain a shining example to the Isoko nation.
