Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon (Chief) Ferguson Onwo has assured that the Isoko nation will continue to enjoy it place of relevance in governance of the state.
Speaking while playing host to the leadership of Isoko Development Union, IDU, Worldwide in his office at the State Assembly Complex in Asaba, Hon Onwo however stressed the need for the people to remain focused and united for greater development in Isoko land.
The Majority Leader who represents Isoko South 2 Constituency in the House, told the visiting IDU executive that the PDP led administration in the state has done so much in Isoko North and South, and was not relenting in attracting more dividends of democracy to the localities.
He described the establishment of the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro as a master stroke and a great milestone amongst several other projects and programs of the state government in Isoko land, stressing that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa must be commended at all times for his love for the Isoko nation.
Flanked by the member representing Isoko South 1 Constituency, Hon Ovuakpoye Evivie, the Lawmaker reminded the people of the emerging increased political activities ahead of the 2023 general elections and emphasized the need for the Isokos to remain on straight line with Governor Okowa for proper guidance and directions.
Onwo emphasized that Governor Okowa has demonstrated capacity and lots of commitment to the welfare of Deltans and had remained a great team leader, hence the need for sustained support and collaboration of all stakeholders.
The Majority Leader who doubles as the Chairman, House Committee on Information, commended the leadership of the Isoko socio- cultural group for its drive for unity of purpose, peace, progress and development in Isoko land.
He charged the officials to ensure that the people’s interest remains in the front burner as they carry out their activities, saying that the benefits of their selfless service to the Isoko nation were enormous, even as he called for more efforts towards the development of the area.
The President General of Isoko Development Union, Prof Chris Akpotu, had paid glowing tributes to Hon Ferguson Onwo for always deploying his energy in uniting the Isokos as well as his commitment towards human capital and infrastructural development in the area.
Prof Chris Akpotu assured the Majority Leader that the Isoko people are solidly with him, saying that they were in solidarity visit to the office as a demonstration of their support.
He said “You had exhibited capacity in the position as member representing Isoko South 2 Constituency. The excellent performance influenced other lawmakers to ensure that you became the majority leader of the House in their desire for Delta to stand out in the comity of states. We congratulate you and urge you to remain good ambassador of the Isoko nation”.
“We are happy to see your colleague representing Isoko South 1, sitting beside you to receive us. This shows that all of you are working together as our representatives. Our appeal is for you to continue to carry all the Isoko representatives in the state Assembly along as their leader. We will continue to approach you to make demands, even as we look forward for more presence of Okowa’s handwork in Isoko land”, Prof Akpotu stressed.
Crown Prince Desmond Ogbaudu and Chief Dan Odhomo, 1st and 2nd Vice President of the Socio-cultural union, were among the officials that accompanied the President General on the solidarity visit.
