Delta Commissioner For Secondary Education Ezewu Warns Against Bush Burning Around Schools

Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu has warned the public against bush burning around school environment.

The Commissioner gave the warning when she visited Arhagba Secondary School in Okpe Local Government Area of the state to ascertain the level of damage occasioned by the fire from nearby busy that razed the roof of some classroom blocks of the school.


Ezewu advised school authorities to always ensure that they do not allow grasses to overtake the school environment but ensure that they the environment was kept neat at all times so as to avoid fire from penetrating into the school.

Ezewu reminded the public, especially herders to desist from bush burning , adding that such unwarranted attitude would impact negatively on the education system in the state.

In a related development the Secondary Education Commissioner also inspected schools in Okpe and Ethiope East Local Government Areas of the state.

Schools visited by the copyright included Oha Secondary school, Orerokpe Secondary school and Oviore Secondary school.

Speaking during the visits, Mrs. Ezewu enjoined students to be embrace reading culture and shun social vices .

She explained that their future depended so largely on their seriousness to the academic activities, saying that teachers should ensure that they performed their duties creditably such that it could reflect on the academic performances of the students.
