Delta State Teachers Recruitment Exercise: Ezewu, Oghoro Monitor CBT In Asaba, Reaffirm Okowa’s Desire To Improve Educational Sector

Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu has assured applicants who were shortlisted for the ongoing recruitment that Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa was irrevocably committed to employing quality teachers as a systematic approach to improve the standard of education in the state.

Ezewu stated this during the monitoring of the conduct of the Computer Based Test (CBT) for applicants who who applied for teaching job in the state.

The commissioner enjoined the candidates to put in their best in the aptitude test as Professional teachers.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro described the use of CBT as an innovation that was geared towards sanitising process of evaluation.

Oghoro, who said that the use of CBT in the conduct of recruitment aptitude test commenced in 2019 during the recruitment excercise conducted by the State Ministry of Technical Education, said tha the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education was applying the scheme for the first time with the ongoing recruitment processes.

The Permanent Secretary said that the use of CBT was to evaluate the competencies of shortlisted applicants, adding that a total of 6900 were shortlisted.

While saying that it was considered necessary to adopt the use of CBT as a result of its timelines and accuracy in information documentation, Mr. Oghoro noted that the scheme would eliminate the issue of cheating.

He also said that through the use of CBT the results of the performance of the applicants would be accessed instantly, stressing that the candidates would be given oral interview in addition to the written examination.

It could be recalled that the centres visited by the commissioner and the Permanent Secretary included the Delta State Library ICT centre and the Delta State Polytechnic Ogwuashi-Uku ICT centre in Oshimili South and Aniocha South Local Government Areas of the state respectively.
