The Member Representing Uvwie Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon (Chief) Solomon Ighrakpata has assured that Uvwie under his representation, shall continue to witness peace and development.
Speaking during the inspection of some key constituency projects and few landmark State government’s projects in the Constituency, Ighrakpata who is the Deputy Chief Whip of the House, stated that the voices of the people of Uvwie have been very pronounced on the floor of the State legislature.
The Lawmaker explained that the leadership qualities of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Rt. Hon. Sherrif Oborevwori with the support of critical stakeholders in Uvwie had helped in actualizing his utmost desire for unity, peace, progress and development in the local government area.
While commending the duo of Governor Okowa and Speaker Oborevwori, Hon Ighrakpata who doubles as the Chairman, House Committee on Special Duties, emphasized that but for their collaboration, the success story of his two years and eight months representation in the 7th Delta State Assembly, could not have been achieved.
He maintained that during the period under review, he had ensured that the position of the people of Uvwie on issues of interest were effectively canvassed and results achieved as there was never a dull moment in that regards.
According to the Lawmaker, nothing will change even in the near future in his commitment to provide quality representation to the constituency, rather it will continue to be enhanced by the day, in addition to the experience gathered so far in the business of democratic governance.
“I can tell you that there is hardly any issue brought to the State Assembly wherein the position of Uvwie is not canvassed, including during caucus meetings by members and debates at the Hallowed Chamber. My people always stand tall and that same glory shall be sustained by the grace of God and by the support of every stakeholders in Uvwie Growth Project”.
Hon Ighrakpata stated that some of the constituency projects and other projects attracted to the area as a Lawmaker in the 7th Assembly have been completed, while others are at various stages of completion.
He listed some of them to include, two blocks of six classrooms at Alegbon Secondary School, Effurun, a block of six classroom at Ugbolokposo Secondary School, Ugbolokposo, a block of six classrooms at Ebrumede Secondary School, Ebrumede, a block of six classrooms and office accommodation at Ugbomro Secondary School, Ugbomro, and renovation of a block of twelve classrooms at Ekpan Basic School, Niger Cat road, Ekpan.
Others include reactivation of water scheme project at Ebrumede, provisions of school furniture to some schools in Uvwie, scholarships to some indigent students in the constituency and employment of nurses and medical doctors into the newly established Asaba Specialist Hospital as well as some other empowerment programs, amongs others.
Ighrapata paid glowing tributes to Governor Okowa for his development strides across the State, saying that his Uvwie Constituency never had it so good, even as the people crave more government presence in the locality.
“I must tell you that His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has been so committed to leaving lasting legacies at the end of his administration. Uvwie was never left out in the development strides. I thank him on behalf of my people, as we expect more of his good works in Uvwie.”
The Lawmaker also commended the Speaker of the State Assembly for his outstanding leadership and commitment to ensuring that Members got what is due to them as representatives of their various constituencies.
“I must also appreciate the Speaker for his support, not just for me but on behalf of other members representing the various constituencies. He is a wonderful leader and my prayer is for God to grant him his heart desires.
“Also worthy for emphasis is the immeasurable support and synergy I enjoy from the authorities of Uvwie local government council and the Uvwie traditional institution. The Council Chairman, Chief Ramsy Onojake and His Majesty Abe 1, the Ovie of Uvwie have been very wonderful. The synergy accounts for the prevailing peace and harmony in Uvwie which have attracted so much investors to the locality”, the lawmaker emphasized.
Ighrakpata stated that he decided to visit some of the projects to ascertain their status before presenting himself to stakeholders to formally announce his intention for reelection into the Delta State Assembly.
The Deputy Chief Whip however expressed hope in God and constituents to achieving the desired result as Uvwie requires the best at all times for sustained peace, progress and development as one of the most strategic town in Delta State.
