The sitting member representing Udu Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. (Chief) Peter Okagbare Uviejitobor JP, has declared interest for re-election into the state legislature under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Hon Uviejitobor who is the Chairman, House Committee on Water Resource Development made his intention known at a meeting of PDP Ward 9, Orhuwhorun in Udu local government area.
Addressing the executive, elders, leaders and other cross session of the PDP faithfuls, the Lawmaker stated that he decided to first make his interest public in his ward as Charity begins at Home, explaining that his intention was not only to consolidate the gains of democracy he had brought to the constituency but to complete a circle.
“Today, I came before you my people to declare my interest to be re-elected into the Delta State House of Assembly under our great party, the PDP. I have to make this official declaration from my Ward, Ward 9 and at the residence of the Ward Chairman, Efete Okolosi, in Orhuwhorun Community, Udu LGA of Delta State as there was no other place to kick start the journey than my Ward. I did this to carry everyone along as we visit deligates in other remaining nine wards to break the good news.
“I am running this election to consolidate my achievements and to complete a circle. I had contested and won election into the Delta State House of Assembly on the platform of Labour Party in 2015. My defection to the PDP years after, resigning my position as a Principal Officer in the House to join the ruling party was greeted with mix feelings, but I told my critics that I did it for the interest of the Udu people. The PDP gave me ticket to run the election in 2019 and for the first time after sixteen years in the politics of Udu, the party won overwhelmingly.
“We all are aware that PDP gives ticket for second tenure to its elected officials from Governor to National Assembly and State Assembly, even to Chairmen of councils and councillors. So my case should not be different, hence I come before the party to seek re-election to consolidate my achievements and to complete a circle. I came from the private sector as a businessman and will not take what does not belong to me. 2023 PDP ticket is completion of the circle in the State House of Assembly” Uviejitobor stated.
The Lawmaker paid glowing tributes to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for being a focused and pragmatic leader whose interventions on the affairs of the party across the local government areas had brought stability in the internal politics of the PDP in the state.
Stressing that in every wards in Udu, the Governor and himself have performed very well, Hon Uviejitobor highlighted some of the landmarks of the duo in Udu Ward 9 to include, Renovation of Orhuwhorun Primary School, Orhuwhorun, Construction of a block of Six Classroom at Orhuwhorun High School, Establishment of Steel Town School, DSC Township, Orhuwhorun, Udu, the on- going reconstruction of Orhuwhorun Main Town Road, Orhuwhorun and Construction of another block of Six- Classroom at Palama Primary School, Orhuwhorun.
He said projects attracted and executed in others wards would be listed as he visits the wards together with his campaign team.
“I appeal for the support of PDP Ward 9 to become the party flag bearer come 7th May 2022 as I am the best candidate to face any opposition candidate for the election in Udu. Udu can not afford to fail our great party PDP. Let’s do it again to complete ongoing projects in Udu and make impactful laws for the growth and development of our communities. Experience counts and I have the experience”, Uviejitobor said.
In another remark, a former PDP Chairman in Udu local government area, Prince Sam Ughujowhovwo said Hon Uviejitobor has performed creditably well and deserves to be re-elected into the state legislature.
Prince Ughujowhovwo called for maximum support for Uviejitobor and prayed God to grant him the wherewithal as he seeks the ticket of the PDP for Udu Constituency Delta House of Assembly seat in 2023.
Others who spoke also commended Hon Uviejitobor for his quality representation and his determination to the progress and development of Udu State Constituency.
