The Youths Wing of the Urhobo Progress Union (ukokor’ighele R’urhobo has berated the recent endorsement of Olorogun David Edevbie by some Executives of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU)
In a press statement issued today Thursday 21 April,2022 by the National General Secretary of the UPU Youths Wing, Comr Joseph Adjari disclosed that there was no meeting or UPU National Executive Committee meeting (NEC) where such decision was reached to endorse a political party aspirant.
The statement read thus: The attention of the Ukokor’Ighele R’urhobo of the Urhobo Progress Union, Youth Wing of the apex sociocultural group of Urhobo nation in Delta State has been drawn to some trending stories on social media/mainstream media on endorsement down by some individuals on a particular political party governorship aspirant ahead of the State guber 2023 election.
The essence of this media release is therefore, to state the obvious and made our position know before the general public that the national youths body wish to distance itselves from the recent endorsement of Olorogun David Edevbie by some Executives of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU).
“We the Youths body of UPU under the leadership of comr Ovie Ebireri wish to State it clear that there was never any meeting or UPU National Executive Committee meeting (NEC) was held and far reaching decision were reached on endorsement of a political party aspirant.
UPU remain a sociocultural group with it’s aim and objectives to Promoting the culture and tradition of the Urhobo People .
The Urhobo Youths wish to inform the general public that who ever go out with UPU name for endorsement is just deceiving the aspirant and syphoning him or her , because UPU is not a political or pressure group or political party
I which to make this known in a press release signed by the National General youth Secretary of UPU Comr Joseph Adjari, that they should ignored the endorsement in a publication on page 9 of Vanguard Newspaper on 17th April
