I took it upon myself to carry out discrete investigation about the claim by detractors of the leading governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, wherein they falsely asserted that Oghareki Grammar School in Ethiope West Local Government Area, Delta State, was recently established in 2014.
Their propaganda stunt was aimed at discrediting Oborevwori’s School Certificate genuinely obtained in 1999, and bearing Oghareki Grammar School as Examination centre or where he wrote the School Certificate examination.
Their baseless arguments was that if Oghareki Grammar School was established in 2014 as indicated in the school signboard, how come Oborevwori’s certificate obtained in 1999 bears Oghareki Grammar School instead of Baptist High School, Oghareki.
Here are the facts obtained from reliable sources in Oghareki and the school authority;
1. Baptist High School, Oghareki was established in 1970 by Baptish Church as a missionary school.
2. The people of Oghareki Community whoever protested in 1974 against the name – Baptist High School, on the ground that a school established in their community must bear Oghareki Grammar School, thereby rejecting the name – Baptist High School.
3. As a result of the protest by the good people of Oghareki community the school authority under Baptist Church bowed to the pressure and request of the people and subsequently renamed it Oghareki Grammar School in 1974, but still under the ownership and management of the Baptist Church.
4. As at 1999 when Oborevwori obtained his School Certificate, the name of the School remained Oghareki Grammar School under the missionary, hence his school certificate reflected Oghareki Grammar School. It has been Oghareki Grammar School since 1974.
5. However, Oghareki Grammar School was formally taken over from the missionary (Baptist Church) by Delta State Government in 2014. It follows that 2014 was when the take over took effect, not the year it was established. Oghareki Grammar was established by Baptist Church in 1970, period.
6. The principal of Oghareki Grammar School as at the year Oborevwori obtained his School Certificate was one Mr Jacob Jike. He is still very much alive.
These facts can be verified at the Principal’s Office at Oghareki Grammar School and the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
Mr Speaker’s school certificate, as well as his academic degrees obtained from Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma and Delta State University, Abraka where he studied Political Science, are genuine and authenticated. He holds both BSc and Master Degree Certificates.
Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, the Ukodo of Okpe Kingdom and the undisputed incoming governor of Delta State has been vindicated. No weapon formed against him shall prosper. It won’t work.
His detractors are advised to meet him at the PDP gubernatorial primaries on 21st May, 2022. Victory is Sure!
