Both Chiefs Joe Omene and Dr. Wilson Omene former Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Area have described their Elder brother His Royal Majesty,S Okhribo Imoyi Omene,Uduurhie,1, Ovie of Mosogar Kingdom as an exceptional human being who sacrificed personal comfort to ensure the betterment of his siblings.They both made these remarks in an interview with newsmen during the Rites of Passage of the Monarch in Mosogar, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.
Firstly,Dr Wilson Omene former Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Area said but for his brother the Late Mosogar Monarch,it would have been very difficult if not impossible for them to be the great men you have in the Omene Family today including himself.He disclosed that his late Elder brother turned down the Scholarship given to him by Former Minister Of Finance,Late Chief Festus Okotie Eboh to study for his Doctorate Programme,PHD,in United States of America USA, on the ground that should he leaves his siblings, nobody would be able to care for them an at the end of the day they might turn out to be unproductive to the Omene Family and the entire society.
But today due to his efforts, you ha Ive Medical Doctors, Engineers, Accountants, Retired Custom Officers, who were trained by the late Mosogar Monarch.” Today look at the Omene Family we are comfortable, educated, and well positioned in life all these are as result of the efforts of my Elder brother who will be forever remain in our hearts”
This story was corroborated by Chief Engr.Joe Omene as well who said his late brother had to manage his income with them himself,Dr, Wilson Omene,Chief Ogheneovo Omene and Gomene.Adding that they were all staying with him at ATP, Sapele in a small apartment and do joined him in his Bettle Car whenever he is going to School as a Teacher in Okotie Eboh Grammar School Sapele..Having given four of them Secondary Education then in the 1960s,he fixed him and Dr Wilson Omene in the Nigerian Customs and others were fixed in Ministries where they further their studies.
Chief Omene said they are going to missed the Late Monarch for his wisdom and his intelligence which he brought to bear in the Family and the Kingdom.Speaking on his likely Succesor He disclosed that the Late Monarch is from Uduurhie while his successor is expected from Uduaka.” But the next King will come from the other five families, certainly not from the Otota Family since the present King is gone the Otota to the King as stop.Since next King is going to Uduaka,Otota comes to back to Uduurhie.
He added that the two positions go to the Families that have never held them before and not the right of anybody of family to hold any of these positions perpetually.” We are hearing that some people are contesting for positions, are saying that if they fail they will settle for the position of the King,Let them try it !
