Leading governorship hopeful of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, has again assured Deltans that his administration will provide credible leadership, and build on the superb legacies of the incumbent governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.
Oborevwori gave the assurance in Asaba on Tuesday May 17, when he received in audience members of Coalition for Media Politics and Governance, CMPG, led by it’s Chairman and renowned communication strategist, Chief Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq, saying that Okowa is the best governor since the creation of Delta State.
He disclosed that his political detractors are fighting a lost battle because his academic credentials and names are not in controversy as wrongly alleged, adding that false alarm and negative propaganda sponsored by some of his opponents was aimed at confusing delegates.
He noted that detractors propaganda and fake news made him (Oborevwori) more popular and further enhanced delegates and eligible voters love for him across the three senatorial districts.
Rt Hon Oborevwori who is also the Speaker, Delta House of Assembly, further posited that his M.O.R.E agenda, is structured to ensure smooth and progressive continuity in governance, anchored on Meaningful Development, Opportunity for all Deltans, Realistic Reforms and Enhanced Peace and Security in the state.
“I am a home grown politician, not imported from Britain or any other country to Nigeria. I have lived with the people and worked closely with former governors. I am an insider. I know the inner workings of government.
“I was properly groomed for higher leadership and greater responsibilities by my leader and state governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa. That’s why I will start working from the very minute I am sworn in as Governor of Delta State, on May 29, 2023.
“My administration will retain and increase funding for some of the laudable peoples focused programmes like; Rysa, Yagep, Step, Project Gest for Girls and others, because there is the need to take more and more of our youths from the streets and labour market in Delta State.
“The Technical Colleges; the old and new ones under construction across the state shall be well funded to produce thousands of self employed young Deltans, so as to expand our entrepreneurial development and productive sector of the state economy. For the first time, Deltans will benefit greatly from the multifaceted gains of continuity in government.
“CMPG Chairman, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe and I, have been friends for 43 years and still counting. I was a year ahead of him during our days in the college before we went our separate ways to other institutions of learning. We sustained our relationship over the years.
“And without sounding immodest, Fred Oghenesivbe, whose alias name was Jim Derek, in college, is one of my best friends who can testify to my early life as a student. He is here today supporting me all the way because he truly know my person.
“I deeply appreciate the huge support from CMPG and other groups across the state, and I promise to deliver on my promises when I become your governor in 2023. My manifesto shall be fully unveiled after gubernatorial primary. You will have so much good things, policies and programmes to write and talk about.
“Of a truth, my governorship aspiration has grown far and above me as an individual. It is now a fully certified Pan Delta Project. CMPG and other groups adopted me as sole governorship candidate because you and majority of Deltans believe in my abilities, capacity and competence.
“Delta is sheriffied today because Deltans believe in me and my ability to get things done. The ongoing Sheriffication of the state is divine and awesome. To God be the glory.
“I wish to use this opportunity to assure Deltans, once again, that Delta money will be used to develop the three senatorial districts on equal basis. Not a kobo will be wired abroad. No story.
“Our state treasury will be guided jealousy and funds shall be well utilised to provide; social amenities, qualitative education, upgrade existing infrastructure and build new ones, partner with the private sector for the establishment of industries, quality health care, create job and wealth for all Deltans, and so and so forth. It’s going to be an all inclusive government.
“I congratulate my brother and friend, Barrister Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe on the occasion of his 60th birthday anniversary. I pray God Almighty to grant him his heart desires, good health, longevity and prosperity, in Jesus Name.
“Thank you for supporting me. Continue to be my partners in progress and by God’s grace, victory is sure,” Oborevwori said.
CMPG Chairman and Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Communications, Chief Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, said Oborevwori is the best man for the number one job in the state, pointing out that Deltans are yearning for a tested and trusted peoples governor to be Okowa’s successor in 2023.
He noted that the Oligarchs have regrouped, and are fighting dirty to take control of Delta State treasury, adding that Deltans are in one accord; to see to it that what happened to their treasury some years ago which brought bad image to Delta and Urhobo nation does not rear its ugly head again in 2023, and beyond.
“We are here to pledge our total support and commitment to the actualization of your landslide victory both at the gubernatorial primary and at the polls in 2023.
“We have done a background check on you, and found out that you are innocent of all the false allegations against you. We verified your certificates, your names and other records, and could not find anything negative or incriminating against you.
“Your detractors have failed in all ramifications and their frustration is glaring. You are a joint heir with Christ Jesus and a seed of Abraham. You are a winner and a winner you shall be at the gubernatorial primary and at the polls in 2023.
“We became friends 43 years ago, and I know for sure that you are Oborevwori Sheriff Francis. Sheriff is the street credibility super identity, a name given to you by your uncle as a bulky little boy. I am aware because that is the truth. Those wailing over your names and certificates are dwindling away. They have lost touch with political reality.
“CMPG shall continue to defend your integrity and pedigree until the voice of your enemies waxes cold and their hands withers away into oblivion. You are a kind hearted leader and Deltans will prosper under your leadership as governor.
“Be strong and continue to be courageous, for the Lord God is with you in this battle. Victory is sure,” Oghenesivbe said.
