The Member Representing Udu Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Peter Uviejitobor has congratulated the winner of the PDP House of Assembly primaries in Udu, Chief Jite Brown for his victory in the election.
Hon Uviejitobor who described the contest as peaceful and transparent, also commended his teaming supporters in Udu local government area for the confidence reposed on him and promised never to let them down.
Addressing a good number of constituents at his residence in Udu, immediately after the PDP primaries in the council area, Hon Uviejitobor said he was overwhelmed by the supports he received from the people during his campaign to seek reelection into the State Legislature, under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party.
The Lawmaker who is the Chairman, House Committee on Water Resources Development, said although he lost in the primaries, he was glad that he fought the battle to the end.
“I remained a strong believer of democracy and democratic governance. After 16 years, I won election for PDP in Udu. I thought the party will compensate me by giving me a second ticket but that was not the case. That is party politics for you. You win some, you loose some, but the most important thing is that you, my grassroots supporters remain with me in this journey for good governance and sustainable development in Udu. I appreciate all of you for your undying support. Let’s continue to keep the flag flying”, Uviejitobor stated.
Continuing, the Lawmaker stressed “I came into the State Assembly not with PDP ticket. I was elected a Principal Officer but about two years after, I sacrificed that position to join the PDP. And that sacrifice gave PDP victory as the party never won any election in Udu since the advent of the present democracy in 1999. PDP won House of Assembly and Governorship elections for the first time in 2019. If I had not crossed, it won’t have been possible. I wanted to complete a cycle, and thought the ticket should have been given to me to appreciate me. However, I have no regret as it is only God that gives power”.
He described the PDP primaries in Udu as well organized, peaceful and transparent.
“The election in Udu was very transparent and peaceful. As a result, I must commend the returning officer for the election, Chief Solomon Goley, security agencies and other stakeholders for the conduct. I was one of the first persons to congratulate Jite in the field immediately he was announced winner. I do not see politics as a do or die affair. He won under a well organized contest and the umpires deserve my commendation”, the Lawmaker emphasized.
Hon Uviejitobor assured constituents of sustained robust and effective representation as he was determined to finishing strong and leaving behind sound legacies in the State Assembly.
