Delta 7th Assembly:  Okowa, Oborevwori, Lawmakers, Others Mark 3rd Session With Thanksgiving

Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori on Sunday led the other twenty eight members of the State Legislature in a thanksgiving service to mark the 3rd Anniversary of the 7th Assembly.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, at the ceremony which was also attended by his deputy, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro and several other dignitaries, including top government functionaries, capta of industries and traditional rulers, called for sustained collaboration between the State Assembly and the executive for accelerated development in the state.

Governor Okowa in his remarks at the thanksgiving service held at Living Faith Church, Asaba, called on those in authority to use their positions to better the lives of the people they lead.

While congratulating members of the 7th Assembly on their third anniversary, Governor Okowa lauded the legislature for the good working relations between the executive and the legislative arms of government in the state.

He stressed the need for sustained peace and development in the state, saying that his administration will continue to collaborate with the House in building a stronger economy in the state.

Speaker, Delta Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, who took the only bible reading at the service, expressed gratitude to God for His grace upon the House, saying that members have every reason to celebrate.

Oborevwori assured for more impactful bills that would further promote peace and development in the state, saying that the electoral process for 2023 elections would not disrupt the sitting of the House.

Earlier, Resident Pastor of the church, Pastor Chris Nwaka in a sermon titled “Accessing Our Breakthrough Heritage In The Word” said Christians are redeemed as ambassadors of Christ to enjoy dignity and for generational impact.

He said only God can guide and direct the affairs of men and urged leaders to always put their trust in God.

Some members of the House including the Deputy Speaker, Ochor Ochor, Majority Leader, Ferguson Onwo, Deputy Chief Whip, Solomon Ighrakpata, Hon Emeka Nwaobi, Aniocha North, Anthony Elekeokwuri, Ika North East and others in their reactions, said the State Assembly was poised of making more progress and called for sustained support of Deltans.

The service featured special thanksgiving by members of the 7th Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori flanked by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and other dignitaries at the service.
