Paramount traditional ruler in Delta State His Royal Majesty, Ajuwe, Samson Owhe Ogugu 1, the Osuivie of Agbarho Kingdom has nominated: Mr Ejiro Otarigho driver of the petroleum truck that went up in flames at Agbarho last weekend for state and national awards and rewards for his bravery and gallant show of skills that averted a major disaster in the state.
The monarch who described Otarigho’s unquantifiable patriotism and risk taken by the Agbarho-born driver saved what may have resulted in collosal loss of lives and property.
Ogugu 1 who spoke through one of his Chiefs conveyed his deep appreciation to Otarigho for manner and method he applied in handling the already burning truck, laden with petroleum product, away from the densely populated area, at the risk of his life.
According to the reverend Monarch, “his demonstration of valour and patriotism in our country today demands state and national honour and rewards.
While describing Mr Ejiro Otarigho act as uncommon bravery and heroism said a lot of houses and probably lives, would have been lost to the inferno.
“The palace and entire kingdom were delighted to hear and watch on the social media the gallant skills of our illustrious son Ejiro Otarigho (tanker driver) who took the initiative and risk to drive the tanker away from densely populated area to a secluded area before the tanker finally went into flames.
“On behalf of the royal family, the throne and people of Agbarho Kingdom, I salute my son Otarigho over what God Almighty used him to achieve on that day – saving lives and property by his heroic action.
“Haven displayed this great act of putting the lives of others first before his, unarguably, others would be motivated to seeing Governor Ifeanyi Okowa rewarding him for saving others from the inferno.
“Though, we have read on the media the commendation of His Excellency, Governor Okowa but it would be more rewarding when a physical rewards such as cash, property among others are given to Otarigho to encourage him and others for selfless sacrifices.
“Agbarho Kingdom remain proud of you our illustrious son and we urge other Deltans and Nigerians to emulate your heroics acts in all their activities,” Ogugu 1 submitted.
