By Austin Azu-As the surging crowd of Nigerians are struggling to beat the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) to enable them exercise their political franchise in the 2023 general elections, Youths in Delta State have be urged to get registered, collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and participate actively in the nation’s electoral process.
The State Commissioner for Youth Development, Comrade Ifeanyi Egwunyenga who disclosed today (Thursday 16, 2022) when he received on courtesy visit a grassroot political campaign group know as “M.O.R.E for Delta Youths Project” convened by Fred Sheriff Oborevwori, son of the State PDP gubernatorial candidate, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori at his office in Asaba, the state capital.
Egwunyenga who expressed satisfactions over youth involvement in the 2023 general elections across the state, urged them to also demonstrate that through their commitments towards the ongoing (INEC) Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) across their areas.
“It’s imperative to state here that young people constitute more than half of the voting and actual population in Nigeria and your involvement in the political movements nationwide will negate the current political dynamics in Nigeria.
While declaring his full support behind the group, Egwunyenga maintained that no meaningful achievements can be achieved in the 2023 general elections if the group didn’t mobilize their families, friends and wards to register and obtain their PVCs to enable them effect the needed changes they desire in Nigeria.
The Delta State Commissioner for Youth Development, Comrade Ifeanyi Egwunyenga also cautioned youth against campaign of calumnies while promoting their candidates.
“You must be mindful of how you use the social media platforms to promote your choice candidate, but while doing that, always be cautious of what you post or share on the media space. Always verify and cross check information before publishing.
The Commissioner also urged the PDP youth supporters to help in the marketing and rebranding of PDP across the state to give the party landslide victory next year.
Earlier, the group Deputy Director General Comrade Ugagaoghene Yole who explained the group aimed at driving youth inclusiveness in the incoming government, said members of the group include coordinators from the 25 LGAs in the State as well as the national president of the National Association of Delta State Students (NADESTU).
The Deputy DG said they were in the commissioner’s office to intimate him with the group activities as adviser and formulate ideas and programmes that will project and achieve the youths interest in the next election.
Further speaking at the meeting, Comrade Ugagaoghene stated that the group is planning a megal rally cum carnival that will take place July, 2022 in Asaba to create awareness and support Oborevwori for governor.
In another development, the group Deputy Director General Comrade Ugagaoghene Yole also led other members of the group to where the ongoing continuous voter registration (CVR) of INEC at Oshimili South Local Government Council to ascertain the level of applicants challenges in the registration process.
