Ezewu Commends Initiative Of AAC In Tackling Corruption

Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu has described the intention of the Action Against Corruption (AAC) to embark on integrity lecture in schools across the state as a laudable initiative.

Mrs. Ezewu stated this in her office in Asaba when the the National President of the Organisation led its members from the state chapter to pay the commissioner courtesy visit.

While stressing the need to change the narratives by ensuring that there was moral reorientation among children, Mrs . Ezewu identified peer group influence as one of the major factors of moral decadence in the society.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro said that the Ministry always collaborated with many non governmental organisations in ensuring that public services were delivered to the people effectively and on time .

Mr. Oghoro, who said that the issue of corruption should be tackled from the grassroots , urged the team to come up with their work plan, adding that Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education was in partnership with several NGOs on termly basis, especially in its mentorship programme.

The President of Action Against Corruption, Comr. Frank Omoile Onyeka said that AAC was an NGO registered by the CAC and ICPC’s National Anti-Corruption Coalition (NACC) , adding that membership of the NGO was open to every willing Nigerian.

He stated that the major purpose of the visit was to inform the commissioner that the Action Against Corruption in collaboration with ICPC would embark on integrity lecture in basic and secondary schools in the state on corruption and corrupt practices.

Comr. Omoile said that the initiative was aimed at catching the youths free from corruption through sensitisation and educational programmes.

He appealed to the ministry to partner with the NGO and the ICPC in the fight against corruption in schools and the society at large.
