Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, Wednesday, played host to three separate bodies in his office at the State Assembly Complex in Asaba.
Rt Hon Guwor in his remarks during the courtesy visits restated the resolve of the State Legislature to enacting laws for peace and good governance of the State.
The groups include, Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria, Delta State chapter, Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, Asaba and the Delta State chapter of Nigerian Optometric Association, NOA.
Addressing the management of NTA, Asaba, the Speaker, Emomotimi Guwor, challenged Media practitioners in the State to continue to uphold professional integrity in the discharge of their duties as watchdogs of the society.
While assuring the media of robust partnership in driving the needed growth and developments in the State, Rt Hon Guwor urged the media to key into the state government’s vision in advancing development in the state.
Addressing the Executive of Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria, Delta State chapter, the Speaker stressed the need for practitioners to always ensure robust and credible reportage.
Guwor particularly advised the media handlers to be objective in their reportage by ensuring balanced report and thorough investigation before hitting the press.
Describing the 8th Assembly as Media-friendly, the Speaker assured that his leadership in the Assembly would not in any way gag the Press.
Responding to remarks made by the State Working Committee of Nigerian Optometric Association, NOA, Delta State chapter, the Speaker expressed the hope that given the crop of lawmakers that make up the 8th assembly, Deltans would enjoy robust and people-oriented legislation.
Guwor told the visiting Eye Doctors that the Assembly is open for partnership so long it is of public interest and development of the state and its people.
He commended the Medical Practitioners for serving humanity, stressing that health is wealth, and that the state government would continue to encourage efforts towards the wellbeing of Deltans.
In their separate remarks during the visits, the leadership of the delegations told the Speaker that they were in his office to congratulate him on his emergence as Speaker of the 8th Assembly.
They pledged their organisations commitment towards robust synergy and partnership with the Delta State House of Assembly.
The visits witnessed by the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Arthur Akpowhowho, the Majority Leader, Emeka Nwaobi and some members of the state legislature, featured presentation of gifts to the visiting bodies.
