The mother of modern day politics in Delta State and member of the State Elders Council, Dame Patient Okwuofu has commended the Integrity Group for their steadfastness in supporting Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.
Dame Okwuofu who made the commendation in Asaba while being bestowed as the patroness of the Integrity Group, noted that the state government was aware of the roles of the group in its avowed commitment in delivering the dividends of democracy to Deltans.
She expressed the optimism that given the take off of governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, she was confident that he will get to his destination of delivering MORE Agenda to the state.
“Delta state government is aware of the roles of Integrity Group and you are making waves no doubt. When you hear people calling me ‘Mother of modern day politics, Agu-wanyi, mother of government etc’ such names didn’t come by chance. I was elected councillor in 1987, before being appointed commissioner in the state, since then I have not looked back.
“I have adopted governor Sheriff Oborevwori as my son and anybody or group who is supporting him will be supported. He will do two terms like other governors in the state. We should pray for him day and night always. That light that is already shining will not dim.
“I thank you for your role in publicising the activities of the Delta state government, you must be strong in all the wards in Delta state and preach the good news, tell the true stories and people will verified the good work of the administration. You must be patient because government is like an elephant and can never be exhausted.” She stated.
Earlier, the Convener of Integrity Group of Delta, the MORE ambassadors and You Matter Charity Foundation, Dr. Oke Idawene equally commended Dame Okwuofu for her motherly roles in the state and beyond even as he highlighted the aim of the group to includes; publicising the activities of the Delta state government to all the nooks and crannies of the country.
“Integrity Group of Delta State has come to stay, as the mother of modern day politics, you recently resigned your position to pave the way for young generation to grow, that is noble.
“We are here to unveil you as our patroness and to give you an award as a way of appreciating you as a mother of Delta state. Our agenda is to see that Sheriff Oborevwori succeeds as the governor of Delta state.”
The high point of the ceremony was presentation of award of honour to Dame Patient Okwuofu and the unveiling of Integrity Magazine, a monthly bulletin used to publicised the activities of MORE Agenda and You Matter Charity Foundation.
