Umeh Bridge: Onwo Seeks Immediate Solution To Halt Further Damage

Member Representing Isoko South 2 Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon (Chief) Ferguson Onwo, has expressed concern over fast eroding of the bridge along the Umeh Community road in Isoko South local government area.

Hon Onwo who visited for an on-the-spot assessment to ascertain the extent of the recent damage, said the eroded portion of the Umeh Bridge was fixed sometime last year by the State Government.

The Lawmaker who is the Chairman, House Committee on Health, explained that the road is the only assess way that connects the community to the rest parts of the state.

“It is an all-important road and as people whose major occupation is farming, the road remains the only partway through which their farm produces are convey to major markets within and outside Delta State.

“Serious work was done on the particular portion of the Bridge sometime last year by the State Government through Setraco Nig. Ltd.

“The remediation of the Umeh road was carried out by His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff F O. Oborevwori shortly after he assumed office as Governor and I thanked him profoundly for his swift response”, Onwo stated.

The Lawmaker who was received on arrival by Chief Akpovienehe Duncan Afahokor and some indigenes of the community, promised to follow up with authorities for palliative measures to prevent further damages.

He said, “This is the only road that link Umeh community to the rest of the state. So I am here for on the spot assessment on the level of recent damages on the bridge and to seek how it can be addressed before the problem escalates.

Onwo pointed out that the terrain of the area had made it difficult for permanent solution to the problem, even as he expressed optimism for immediate government intervention.

He called for patience and cooperation of the people.

The community representatives commended Hon Onwo for always working for the progress of the people and assured him of sustained support.
