As the 8th National Youth Games (NYG), came to a close in Asaba, the Integrity Group of Delta State, the MORE agenda and You Matter Charity Foundation ambassadors, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for a successful hosting and team Delta emerging the overall winner of the game.
Team Delta emerged winner with 41 gold, 27 silver and 30 bronze medals totalling 98.
The Convener of Integrity Group of Delta State, Dr. Oke Idawene who addressed journalists shortly after the closing ceremony of the 8th National Youth in Asaba stadium, applauded governor Oborevwori for the feat achieved by the state.
He congratulated the athletes, their coaches and the management of Delta State Team on the great record, saying it calls for celebration.
The Convener attributed the successes recorded by the team Delta to the huge investment of the state government in sports, assuring that talents discovered at this year’s games would be nurtured and mentored to become future stars for the state, country and the world.
“On behalf of members of Integrity Group of Delta, I congratulates Team Delta for making us proud once again by winning the 8th edition of the National Youth Games. The continuous emergence as winners of the competition is as a result of support and encouragement of Team Delta by successive governments of Delta state.
“We have continued to use sports as a unifying factor in our multi-ethnic state, and this has helped us in bringing the youths together to pursue greater ventures for their own good and that of our state in particular, and Nigeria in general. Integrity Group is happy to be the MORE agenda and You Matter Charity Foundation ambassadors.” Idawene said.
Lagos State came second with a total medals haul of 62, comprising 25 gold, 19 silver and 18 bronze medals respectively while Edo State is placed third with 17 gold, 12 silver and 24 bronze medals respectively.
