Delta Speaker Pledges Partnership With Journalists

The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, has reiterated the resolve of the house under his leadership to continue to enact laws that will enhance the socio-economic development of the state.
Guwor who made the commitment when he played host to the Asaba Correspondent Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ, equally promised to continue to partner with journalists in the state towards the realisation of MORE agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.
“This house is ready to partner with journalists in the state and to make laws that will enhance the living conditions of Deltans and residents of the state. We were elected to make laws, perform oversight and represent our people and that we will do.
“Governor Oborevwori is one of us and I can assure you that we will continue to synergise for the interest of Deltans. I can assure you that the governor haven risen from this honourable house, has promised to do MORE for Deltans, foster cordial relationship for the interests of the people.”
Earlier, the Asaba Correspondent Chapel Chairman, Mr. Ifeanyi Olannye, had called on the house to synergise with the executive arm of government to ensure strict implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage, law banning open grazing and the law prohibiting ‘deve levies’ for property developers in the state.
He equally made case for laws that will compel civil servants in the state to own farm, grants a day off-duties in a week to embark on farming activities.
This, the Chairman noted, will promote agriculture for food sufficiency for the state.
