The Integrity Group of Delta State, the MORE agenda and You Matter Charity Foundation ambassadors, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for helping to boost electricity in Asaba and its environs.
The Convener of Integrity Group, Dr. Oke Idawene who spoke in reaction to improve electricity supply in Asaba, during an interview with journalists, noted that he was elated to note that electricity supply has improve tremendously in Asaba and its environs in the recent time giving credence to Oborevwori’s intervention.
It could be recalled that on assumption of office last year, governor Oborevwori had intervened in the epileptic power supply in the capital city by directing the Benin Electricity Distribution Company BEDC, to improve electricity supply in the area.
In compliance to the directive, BEDC now increased electricity supply to many areas which hitherto experienced average of one or two hours of electricity or lack of it, now enjoying as far as ten to twelve hours of power supply daily.
The Convener of Integrity Group while expressing appreciation to governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his intervention, noted that the improve electricity supply has rekindled the hopes of residence whose economic and social lives have been increased drastically.
“Today, despite the biting economic hardship, governor Oborevwori is making lives less burden. As I speak many people in Asaba and environs now enjoy relative electricity supply because of the directive of the governor to the BEDC on the need to improve electricity supply.
“Businesses have been revived as many small scale enterprises are striving despite the high cost of fuel and cooking gas. The governor is also intervening in other sectors of economy like agriculture by supplying inputs such as poultry feeds and birds to farmers, fertiliser farmers which is about to commence across the state.”
