NCAC Urges Stakeholders To Support This Year’s African Cultural Fashion Awards

The National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), has endorsed the African Cultural Fashion Awards 2024, even as it called on stakeholders to support Africulfash in its determination to unite Nigeria and Africa through fashion.

 

African Cultural Fashion Awards 2024, is a prestigious event that celebrates the intersection of African cultural heritage, sustainable development, and the power of fashion as a catalyst for positive change.

The event which holds on 1st December, 2024 at Maha Marquee Event Centre, Abuja, Nigeria is being organised by Africulfash, an organisation dedicated in promoting and celebrating Nigeria and Africa through fashion, in collaboration with African Artist for peace Initiative (APPI), and powered by RealA limited and Formidable Female.

 

The NCAC in an endorsement letter signed by, Obi Asika, the Director-general and Chief Executive Officer, said NCAC is pleased to endorsed African Cultural Fashion Awards 2024, a flagship event of Africulfash.

 

The NCAC noted that Africulfash not only highlights the rich heritage and creativity of Africa fashion but also uses it as a tool to preserve cultural tradition and foster unity across the continent at large.

 

“With a mission to unite Nigeria and Africa through fashion, Africulfash addresses the continent’s challenges by driving collaboration and creating a stronger, more influential Africa.

“Their work is crucial in advancing Africa fashion and promoting unity, making Africulfash a key player in the future of Africa culture. I encourage relevant stakeholders to collaborate and support African Cultural Fashion Awards 2024.” NCAC stated.

 

Meanwhile, Amb. Judith Shu’aibu Chief of Operations Africulfash and Event Coordinator African Cultural Fashion Awards (ACFA), said this year’s awards ceremony is particularly significant as it coincides with the United Nations agenda for poverty eradication, providing a poignant backdrop for the collective efforts in addressing social and economic challenges through the lens of African fashion.

 

“It is aimed at igniting a movement that celebrates the cultural richness of African fashion while championing initiatives that contribute to a more equitable and sustainable future for all.”

On the rationale behind this year’s ACFA, she noted that the theme; “Empowerment through Threads: Uniting for Sustainable Development” aligned with the United Nations’ overarching theme for the year and resonates with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 1, which focuses on eradication of poverty, underscored the potentials of African fashion as a vehicle for poverty eradication, economic empowerment, and community development.”
