2025 Budget: Tilije, Ekadayen Assures of Indelible footprints In Development Of State 

Delta State Government has said that implementation of the proposed 2025 appropriation law will lead to an indelible footprints in the over all development of the state.

Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis Tilije and Economic Planning counterpart, Mr Sonny Ekadayen, stated this when the two top officials of the state government appeared before the State Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation for the defense of their ministry’s 2025 budget proposal.

Both Commissioners spoke in separate interviews with Assembly Correspondents after their sessions with the Lawmakers.

The Finance Commissioner, Sir Tilije, disclosed that Deltans will experience the peak of the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s led administration in critical sectors of the economy, particularly in Agriculture.

The Commissioner maintained that there will be clear economic variables that will drive the system thereby having a direct positive impact on the state and and Deltans in general.

He reaffirmed that the State government do not have any intention to borrow to fund the 2025 budget, maintaining that government under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori will carefully manage the resources of the State.

He said, “2025 will be the peak of the MORE Agenda. There will be major economic variables that will drive the system and we also know that there are areas of the economy that will be given a serious breath, for instance Agriculture. Education has always been there.

“We believe that we need to do more in the area of Agriculture, for instance, there’s no reason why we cannot have farm settlements in every Local Government Area of the Delta State.” Sir Tilije stated.

In his reaction, Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr Sonny Ekadayen emphasized the role of the state government in ensuring food security, hence the proposed budget sum of seven billion naira for Agriculture.

The Economic Planning Commissioner, stressed that the State government through the Ministry of Agriculture will roll out programs and policies aimed at boosting food production in the state.

Mr Ekadayen assured that government will do it best to increase food production so as to crash the prize of food items for the common man.

“The objective of every government aside from security of lives and property, is to increase food production in order to crash the prize of food items in the market. The Commissioner for Agriculture, i am sure will come up with programmes in that direction.” Ekadayen Stated

Both Commissioners and officials of their ministries had presented their views for the 2025 fiscal year before the house committee on Finance and appropriation led by Hon Marylyn Okowa- Daramola, Ika North East Constituency.
