Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Oghenesivbe Latimore, has given reasons why the All Progressives Congress APC, in Delta State will continue to be in crisis untill after 2027 general elections.
He also revealed that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration is committed in paying all outstanding loans before the end of his second term of office.
Speaking in his office while playing host to members of Asaba Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, who came on a courtesy visit noted that the Oborevwori’s administration has been able to save about N200b from operating cost in project executions since he came to office saying such achievement is only possible for a governor with a conscience.
“Yes, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa took loans but those loans are legitimate loans because they were well debated by the state assembly who equally gave approvals for the loans.
“Government is a continuum and the next government is duty bound to repay those loans that is why governor Oborevwori is repaying such loans. He has repaid about N160b of such loans and that is why the governor has vowed never to leave any loan unpaid before leaving office.”
Oghenesivbe said despite the promise by Oborevwori not to leave any loan unpaid he will continue to fulfil his campaign promises as evident in the quality of job being executed in the state.
“Today, you can drive from Asaba to Ugheli in less than two hours. Apart from bursary to Delta state students across the country the governor has undertaken to pay for medical bills of any students in higher institutions across the country. In few days from now, the office of the job creation bureau will unveil 2000 youths to be empowered in first phase of its scheme.”
According to the DG, as the governor is busy fulfilling his campaign promises the opposition APC leaders are busy fighting each other over leadership saying this current leadership crisis will continue to lingers till 2027 general elections as they will not agree for comprise and at the end they will not be able to win any local government area in the state.
Earlier, the Vice Chairman of the Asaba Correspondent Chapel of NUJ, Mr. Matthew Ochei who led the members on behalf of the Chairman, Mr. Ifeanyi Olannya, onĀ the visit expressed appreciation to the DG Orientation for his open door policy as regards to media relations noting that journalists in the state are pleased with him.
He pleaded with the DG to help facilitate a meeting with the governor saying since the governor came on board he has not been able to interact with the chapel and journalists in the state, a development he described as unusual.
