The Delta State Sports Commission Chairman, Mr. Onoriode Oborevwori and the Director-General of the commission, Mr. Festus Ohwojero have expressed their commendations for Warri Wolves FC, following their impressive 1-0 victory over Igbajo FC of Osun State in the prestigious Southern Delta University Stadium, at Ozoro Delta State.
The Chairman praised the team’s performance, highlighting their determination and skill on the field. In his words , “This victory not only showcases the talent within the team but also reinforces the growing competitiveness of the league.
” I must at this point, also commend His Excellency Rt Hon Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, The Governor of Delta State, for his strong support for the Warri wolves football club and other clubs owned by the state government.
Indeed, the Governor is a sports loving governor, and through his M. O. R. E. Agenda , the Warri wolves and other teams in the State has continue to experience an unprecedented attention for the overall development of sports in the State. “
He emphasized the importance of giving the club and other clubs owned by the Delta State Government full support and fostering talent in the State, while encouraging fans to continue rallying behind their teams.
The victory of Warri wolves football club has made the team joint leaders on the log of Group A National League with Abia Comets fc , both clubs has equal 7 points, but Abia Comets fc has a superior one goal difference.
It was also worthy of note that both the board chairman and the Director-General played a pivotal role in leading the Warri wolves football club to victory at Ozoro. Their presence at the game was a significant morale booster for the players. Before the match, they held a motivational session, where they emphasized the values of hard work, unity, and determination. The chairman reminded the team of their potential and the support of their fans, while the DG encouraged them to focus on their strengths and play with confidence. As the match unfolded, the players displayed remarkable teamwork and skill, ultimately securing a well-deserved victory. The encouragement from the board chairman and DG were instrumental in inspiring the team to perform at their best.
Warri wolves fc next fixture is against the table topper, Abia Comets fc at Umuahia on Saturday 4th January, 2025, which is regarded as the star match of the group.
The board chairman Mr Onoriode and the Director General Mr Festus Ohwojero has hurg the team to resume training as early as on Friday 27th December, 2024 immediately after the short Christmas break .
The Chairman said that, there is need for early preparation for the match against Abia Comets fc, due to the fact that the team needs to remain focus on the set goals of finishing the league as group winners for the team to gain promotion to the National Premier league (NPL).
