The Delta Queens Football Club “The M. O.R.E. Queens” kicked off their Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season on a promising note, despite their narrow loss 1-0 to Bayelsa Queens Fc.
The match which was played on Wednesday 15th January, 2025 at the main bow of the Samson Siasia township stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, showcased the Delta Queens Fc skills, determination, and displayed of solid gameplay that left fans hopeful for the rest of the season.
With their strong start, there’s a lot to look forward to as they continue to build momentum, hopefully turn things around in their next home match against the Honey Badgers FC in the Stephen Keshi Stadium at Asaba the State Capital.
Speaking shortly after the match at the Samson Siasia township stadium in Yenagoa was the Chairman and Director-General of the Delta State Sports Commission, and according to the chairman of the Commission, Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori; his confident in Delta Queens FC are unwavering, even after their 1-0 narrow loss to Bayelsa Queens. He added that they believe strongly in the team potentials and are very optimistic about their future matches.
While the DG Mr. Festus Ohwojero said that they see the talent and hard work the players put in, and they’re sure, with time the team will find their rhythm and start winning.
Earlier, the coach of the team, Mr. Peter Dedevbo, who said he was happy and satisfy with the performance of the The M. O. R. E. Queens, although he was disappointed that the only goal of the match was scored at the end of regulation time, and that he was hopeful that his girls will definitely bounce back in their next home game at Asaba.
He assured the Delta Queens Football fans that with the girls talents, determination, and hard work, the Delta Queens will make the state proud in the NPFL 2024/2025 season, while urging the fans to strong the Stephen Keshi Stadium come Wednesday 22nd January, 2025 to cheer the team to victory.
The General Manager of the team, Hon. Chief Awhana Alakis Mercy also said that with the performance of the team in Bayelsa State, there is a clear hope that the team will do very well in the league and bring home the trophy they last won two seasons ago.
In her words “The M. O. R. E. Queens has got a lot of talent and determination, so if they keep working hard like this and learning from their games, I think they will definitely bounce back.
It is all about staying positive and building on what they have done well today.”
