Delta State Councillors Forum Wraps Up Familiarization Visits To All 25 LGAs, Promises Improved Governance At Local Levels

A-state-wide visit to the Legislative Arms of the 25 local government councils by the Delta State Councillor’s Forum has ended with renewed commitment to promoting peace and development at the grassroots level.

Chairman, Delta State Councilors Forum and Leader, Legislative Arm of Warri South West, Hon Samuel Idukedoumene Ekpemupolo, at the end of their visits to the eight local government councils that make up Delta South senatorial district, said the forum is committed to ensuring that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda is not just implemented but truly transforms lives at the ward level.

Hon Ekpemupolo and his seven member team, including the Secretary of the forum and Leader Oshimili South, Hon Michael Okonji, Public Relations Officer and Leader, Isoko South, Olokor Friday Abizire, Treasurer and Leader Ethiope East, Emmanuel Emojeya, Delta North Coordinator and Leader Ika North East, Dikenwosi Eric, Delta South Coordinator and Leader Warri South, Joy Nomeme Ejumudo and Delta Central Coordinator and Leader Uvwie Legislative Arm, Rire Okejera Uruesheyi, were at Bomadi, Burutu, Isoko North, Isoko South, Patani, Warri North, Warri South and Warri South West local government councils’ legislative chambers.

 

Ekpemupolo stated that during the familiarization tour across the 25 legislative chambers, the leadership of the forum engaged the 493 councillors in the state, listened to their concerns, share insights, and reinforce the collective shared vision for effective grassroots governance.

He said as the closest representatives of the people, Councillors have it as a duty to ensure governance is felt at the various wards, and pledged their unwavering readiness to drive development, foster unity, and promote peace at the local level.

He said “To achieve this, councilors must be given the necessary support, recognition, and resources. I call on all stakeholders at the state and local government levels to accord councilors the respect and backing we deserve as key pillars of grassroots governance.

Ekpemupolo noted that strong and respected legislative arm at the local level would translates to more effective service delivery and sustainable development across the state.

The State Chairman of the forum urged his colleague councilors to be good ambassadors of the state at their respective wards, even as he charged them to lead with integrity, dedication, and firm commitment to the welfare of the people.

“We must remain united in purpose, focused on solutions, and relentless in our pursuit of a greater Delta State.

Rire Okejera Uruesheyi ( Leader, Uwvie Lg legislative Arm), The Coordinator, Delta North, Rt. Hon. (Engr.) Dikenwosi Chukwuyem Eric (Leader, Ika North East LG Legislative Arm) and the Delta South Coordinator, Rt. Hon. Joy Nomeme Ejumudo (the capacity woman among the men) for their unwavering support and dedication throughout this journey.
