A Public Hearing on a bill for a law to repeal the Delta State Waste Management Board law, 2008 and enact a new law for effective waste management system in the state has been scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 26 February 2025.
A statement by the Chairman, Delta State House of Assembly committee on Environment, Oil and Gas, Hon Festus Utuama says the public hearing will hold at the Press center, State Assembly complex, Okpanam road, Asaba by 12 noon prompt.
The statement, said the Committee will entertain inputs from the Ministries of Environment, Justice, Health, Delta State Environmental Protection Agency, DELSEPA, Delta State Waste Management Board, Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria, Delta State Chapter, PSP Waste Managers and other stakeholders from public and private sector.
It adds that all memoranda on the bill should be in 12 copies, enclosed in sealed envelopes, addressed to the House Committee Chairman on Environment, Oil and Gas; and to reach the Clerk of the Committee clerk on or before Tuesday 25th February 2025.
It will be recalled that the State Assembly at its sitting on Wednesday 5 February, 2025 referred the Delta State Waste Management bill, 2024 to the House Committee on Environment, Oil and Gas for further legislative scrutiny.
