A Service Of Songs for Mrs Pinapina Otuaro (Nee Omula), Mother of Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Delta State, was held on Wednesday at the Christ Embassy Central Church, Airport Road, Effurun, Delta State.
The Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, flanked by his counterpart in Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, led the pack of high flyers from all walks of life to the solemn service, which featured scripture readings, tributes, special renditions and prayers.
Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, whose former Boss’s late mother was being honored, described the gathering as a “remarkable convergence of distinguished personalities from diverse backgrounds”.
Rt Hon Guwor noted that the impressive assembly of the esteemed individuals from far and near, who gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of Mrs Otuaro (aka Nene), was a testament to the high esteem in which they hold the immediate past Deputy Governor and his family.
The Speaker in a statement made available to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Nkem Nwaeke, extends his heartfelt appreciation to all who took the time to pay their respects to the woman many people, including himself, clinged to as a mother when she was alive.
Guwor said the kindness and support by several diverse groups of individuals during this difficult time have been a tremendous source of comfort to his former Boss and the entire Otuaro family.
The Speaker paid glowing tribute to late Mrs Pinapina Otuaro (Nee Omula) for the life well lived and love shown to generations of people.
“As an Aide to the immediate past Deputy Governor of Delta State, I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the impact of Nene’s love and guidance on those around her.
“Her legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire and motivate the children and all of us who knew her”, Guwor said.
It will be recalled that besides Governors of Delta and Taraba states, the Service was attended by a galaxy of other high-profile personalities and prominent figures who came together to pay their respects to the late Nene Otuaro.
They include, former Governor of Delta state, Chief James Onanefe Ibori; immediate past Governor of the state, Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa; Speaker Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt Hon John Kizito Bonzina; and a member of the National Assembly, Rt Hon Thomas Eriyetomi.
Others include the State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Solomon Areyenka; Senator James Manager; members of the Delta State Assembly; Civil Commissioners; captains of industries; local government Chairman, other top government officials, religious and community leaders, and representatives of various groups and organizations within and outside the state.
